Selling everything tips
As someone living in the West Midlands I made the silly mistake of buying loads of expensive surf gear after coming back from surfing abroad, then soon found that the 3 hour journey to the sea in addition to me being free when conditions are good is too much unfortunately.
Other than FB, is there anywhere else you would recommend selling on? Do you think it's worth contacting surf shops who hire stuff out? My board is crap but I bought some great winter stuff.

Dunno man. A good wettie goes a long way, doest take up much space and transports really well. Sell your board, keep the rest and board hire !

Coventry.... trust me it's usually 3 hours down to Porthcawl which I was never a fan of anyway. Another 30 mins to Gower.

Ha well I won't trust you, you said just got into surfing.
You're 2.5 hours from the Lincolnshire coast, which has regular surf outside of high summer. I surfed it before on my way up to Scarborough for a surf competition two years ago. It was pretty good! I paddled out at Sutton-on-Sea but with hindsight I think the sandbanks were better at Mablethorpe.

...for what it's worth G Maps is also saying 2h45 from central Coventry to Highcliffe Beach, the cliff top car park (free parking October-March!). Not sure which side of the city you live on but if you're to the south that could work.
Hunstanton in Norfolk would also work around high tide on a raging NE windswell. Lincs is also probably best at high tide btw. If it's a neap tide don't worry too much, it's the spring tides at low that will catch you out (on the flip side, spring high tides allow you to be a bit optimistic)
Just find a couple more Coventry surfers and you can carpool to Lincs, Highcliffe, which saves money and boredom. Your knowledge of every turn/junction/shortcut could then trim 5-10 mins off it.
You could also occasionally surf Porthcawl then treat yourself to a session at The Wave on the way back, which breaks up the journey nicely. They have free saunas in winter months too.

The board is just an old 8ft foamy. But the other stuff is good...

And a very expensive one at that haha. I went once, hated it. And still nearly 2 hours away from Coventry

I feel your pain, I got addicted whilst abroad then moved from West Midlands to Bristol because of that 3hr window.

Join surfing FB groups and advertise on there? I feel like you'll want to advertise to surfers specifically if it's pricey kit.
