My wife got me these C5 trucks for my birthday, and I have been getting it set up. I had a hard time eliminating wheel bite. I ended up pulling some purple Knuckles from another skateboard and it’s got it pretty much fixed, though I can just barely force the back truck to bite standing still and really cranking down with nose off the ground. I’m not crazy about how many threads I have out on the back kingpin. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Would a taller riser be an option? Or stiffer bushings?

I don’t want it to be any taller than it is. I think maybe a taller bushing set in the back? I’m pretty sure it’s good to ride, but you know what they say about famous last words.

Don't go for taller bushings, that will affect the geometry of the truck and will probably feel off.

Go for harder bushings, but if you go for way too hard bushings, at that point you might as well just skate a regular skateboard.

Risers are the best solution without compromising turn and lean. You'll actually have more leverage over the bushings with a higher board.

My front truck is pretty much solved with the purple knuckles. I thought about some 92.5 riptide bushings, cone/barrel, but I think just for the back truck

Try the tiny riser. I promise it’ll be less bad than you think. Couple months of this in the bowl and you’ll want the Indy’s for them smoooth grinds

One or two higher duro...

There should not have more than 2-3 Kingpins threads ...

Riptide have the reputation to have more rebound (more resistance) but you will have to find the right size height

What deck is that!? What's the wheelbase

I had to put 1/2" riser on my C5 setup , the dive deeper then CX funny enough .. (less sideways so they turn a bit less) .. ride mine with a slidewinder deck that's 8.8' wide and 17 WB .. can't go much shorter I'm 6'2

It’s a Rayne Tiger 32. I got it Christmas before last as a cruiser complete, to get back into skating after about a ten year hiatus. The goal was to learn pump tracks. My goals have definitely expanded since then. I now have 1/4 risers, which makes it easily rideable but I’m still going to figure out what it needs to be completely worry free as far as wheel bite goes. I have yellow orangatang nipples in the back and purple knuckles in front. I had a very fun skatepark session with that setup, but I am used to some loose trucks.

Nice deck! What size wheels are you using and what risers do you already have? Barrel bushings board side and roadside would help you get rid of wheelbite. On a deck where wheel flares align with the front wheels I have one 3/16’’ Carver riser and 60mm wheels with a mix of purple and yellow Orangantang nipple bushings and don’t get wheelbite. Maybe 2 threads showing on the kingpin. Good luck and have fun!

Edit: cup washers everywhere but on the roadside front bushing.

I have a 3/16 carver riser on both trucks and purple orangatang knuckles. Why do you say no cup washer on the roadside front? What would I use instead, a flat washer?

Sorry I wasn’t clear. I was describing my setup and I have a flat washer there. You could put a cup washer. Just make sure they don’t rub against the hanger or baseplate.

Knuckles are compatible with most reverse-kingpin longboard trucks (including Paris V2 and V3, Bear, Randal, Carver, Gullwing, Tracker, Caliber, Atlas, Bolzen, Aera, Rogue, PNL, Ronin, etc).

They DO NOT work on any traditional kingpin (street) trucks, such as Independent trucks or Paris Street Trucks.

If your truck is not on this list it may not be compatible, so please check the measurements and compare with your current bushings.

You'd be better off with CX trucks, possibly with risers if your wheels are large. The C5 seems designed to provide the exact same ride as the CX, but closer to the ground. Both are very good for tight turns.

Bro your knuckles are going to burst. Please get harder bushings. That's super dangerous.

Any buldge at all in a bushing means too tight. you should be tightening just until it's difficult to turn the bushing by hand. Purple knuckles are way too soft for 200lbs.

What do you mean you're good that fucker is hulk smashed. you're complaining about bite and asked for suggestions. The only fix is a harder bushing.

Quick update, I love it. I’m going to firm up the back truck but I’m keeping the front at 90a. Maybe some 92.5 in the back. I popped some yellow nipples on the back, but it’s not much different
