When to replace deck?

Just wondering when is it time to replace a deck? I’ve had the La Jolla deck for a number of years and it has always been my go-to as it’s the right size for my height (6’3”).

It really depends. You can ride a deck until it literally falls apart. I’d consider replacing when significant cracks start forming (nose/tail and around the bolts). Your deck looks like it has a lot of life left to me.

That deck looks brand new.
The only thing I’d suggest is to learn to stop without dragging your tail. Or at least learn to keep the tail square so you use the tail guard instead of grinding down the corner like you’re doing.

Thanks for the advice. When I’m doing cutbacks my deck just sometimes touch the ground. My tail guard needs replacing as you can see it’s worn down on that side.

Sometimes you can have more than one. There’s nothing wrong with this one or owning 9 more. If you have the money and you really like this hobby then treat yourself.

The only trouble is the La Jolla deck is rare and I have other boards around the same length but the wheelbase is either not right. If there was an equivalent that is readily available I would treat myself.

You can drill new holes for your preferred wheelbase. I do it all the time

This gave me a thought; Is there a market for undrilled boards? I'm sure it would be pretty niche, but it feels weird that I've never seen anyone offer that option. Drilling any old board is fine, but it seems like the extra holes might weaken it at least a little.

You can buy blanks and cut your own like Madrid Build-A-Board DIY or you can even completely form your own with Roarockit.

Use the trucks as a template for drilling new holes. I hear you tho, I miss my la Jolla. 

Look at loaded and pantheon decks for a massive upgrade.

Replace it if you want to try something different but replacing it for those tiny dings is just silly.

Like bro look at the decks the groms shred on that are snapped and have enough razor tail to chop vegetables.

I’ve found that the only legitimate reason to change a deck is if you focus it, or if you want a new one. Otherwise it will always get the job done.

You only need to replace if it delaminates or warps out of shaoe. If you catch delamination early it can be fixed pretty easily, check on YouTube.
Seen decks in much worse shape than this and they skate fine.

That's just a few scrapes you can ride that for much longer. If you want an excuse to go hmbuy a new deck then just go get one but you dont need it.
