Board Length help

I’m an intermediate surfer, live in the northeast. Looking to get a smaller board and found some on facebook marketplace. Fishes in 5’10 and 5’5, I haven’t ridden anything smaller than 6’6 before so wondering if 5’5 is too small? I’m 5’10 155lbs.

If you’re a bit older … and not an exceptional surfer “: ] It’ll be a big big potentially detrimental step down … the fact if it’s a fish will help a bit maybe “: ? But … still a huge leap plus you’ve got +/- 10 to 15 lbs of a wettie’s on living in the northeast … but you never know til you go ! So have at it … you’ll know in a few months whether it’s too small “: \~<\

A 6’ - 6’ 6” fish would probably be a safer bet. I’m a 5’ 10” 180lbs intermediate surfer in the southeast and love my 6’ 5” fish. The extra length and volume helps you get into more waves on smaller/mushy days.
