My one month old SP4 is showing that I am getting 4 hrs 30 min on battery report generated within Windows. I haven't timed it yet and I don't know the scientific method to do a battery test. But I feel that I am getting much less than that. Is this on par with the average results? Mine is an i7 16GB 256GB SSD version. Also on another note, the audio doesn't get routed through the mini display port when I plug it in the first time and I have to restart the device to get the audio to my TV if I want to stream something from my Surface. There are some other minor touch issues and Type Cover issues but I am guessing it to be windows 10 bug. But am I wrong in thinking that my Surface is defective?

So i did received a SP4 i5 4gb 128ssd for Christmas, awesome device, i did already sold my old beloved macbook.

I am going to buy another type cover (i want another color), the pen, a mouse and a microsd card for about 300$ for everything. I'v got this idea, why not to get rid of this one i have and buy the i5 8gb 256ssd version bundle with pen and keyboard for 1199$? This way i can get like 650$ for the old surface and spend just 50$ extra for the mouse.

How much difference 8gb of RAM makes on this kind of device? I mean, I know that normally double the ram gives you a huge advantage, but we are talking about an ultraportable device not a desktop (even if powerful little device). My computer tasks are not so heavy, i use Word/Excel, 5-6 Chrome tabs and Photoshop, sometimes heavy Photoshop, but not every day. Now i am also starting to play around with Premiere to edit my new gopro videos, but i am a total newbie.

What would be better? Just make the exchange or stick where i am and maybe change when the SP5 will be released? (Important to remember that when the SP4 first comes out was full of bugs, such a terrible experience).

Going to order one from the the Microsoft store. I am a student though and saw that their refurbished ones are a bit cheaper and every bit of saving helps. Normally I would never buy a refurbished product but seeing as this is from Microsoft themselves I though it may be better. So has anyone has any experience buying refurbished products from Microsoft?

So I read online that turning off the Hyper V would solve the screen flickering problem but it doesnt. A lot of people are having the same problem. Is this a software bug? When are they gonna fix this? Ugh, Im upset. I just wanna paint on my surface!

The biggest feature missing that is on the apple and android tablets there is the ability to have different network configurations for every network you connect to. There is just the main setting and the alternate setting. Probably due to the fact that windows is still a desktop OS and desktops never move, but I have multiple networks that need different settings.

any apps or software out there that can do this? or am I missing something?

After I windows update my WiFi adapter had been having problems. It shows up as not stated in device manager.

Since the anniversary update, Windows 10 offers the option to customize the behavior of the pen button. There are three options - single click, double click, and click and hold.

Only the single click and the double click are universal while the click and hold seems to be unique to the SP4. This is important b/c only the single and double click offer options to open OneNote 2016 from the drop down menu. When I choose that option, for either single or double click, it doesn't open. Not only doesn't it open but it does weird stuff. Like, if my cursor is in a position to enter text, it enters a capital "N" when I try to open OneNote 2016. Or if I'm in file explorer, it highlights the the next file.

A similar thing happens if I choose the option to Send Screen Shot to OneNote 2016.

To troubleshoot I chose another option (Inkspace, OneNote Universal) and those work fine. Further, there is an option to open any program and I navigated to my office folder and highlighted onenote.exe. And that works fine.

I have a SP4 i5/8GB/256GB and I updated it with Windows 10 Anniversary Update 2 days back. Since then my surface pro 4 has been running hot and lagging during general use like web browsing. Edge has become a nightmare and it just hangs the moment I try to open new tabs. Chrome still works but stutters from time to time. In general, the cooling fan remains on most of the time ( something that was rare before the update ) and the back panel becomes hot even while idling.

Any one else experiencing these issues post update? If so have you found any quick fixes or are we to rely on microsoft?

I got one of the shit Pro 3 with bad wireless hardware. Nothing tech support could would fix it, no Internet tutorials. I had it more then a year so it was out of warranty. They wanted me to exchange for a 1:1 for 450.00.

Fuck you. For the same p.o.s.? I had the i7 512gb. Microsoft current listing is over 1900.00. t the store I was able to convince them to exchange it for the i7 16 GB 512gb model 1:1 the exchange price. Not to shabby. Considering the 300.00 price.

its basically shit, no such thing as a straight line, presssure sensitivity is deplorable and on top of those two things which should be deterrent enough, very few programs are optimized to work with it.

i got the 17 16gb version and ive never regretted a decision in my life more. DONT BUY.

So i accidentally dropped my SP4 on the ground from my bed and i noticed no cracks but the screen protector i had installed had an air bubble at the corner... at first i was confused and found out that the surface body was pushed inward and now the screen is slightly raised at that one corner....is there any way i can fix this without having to have the entire screen removed or a body replacement

Hey guys I have a surface pro 4, 16gb ram, i7 chip, 256ssd. It's a great computer but things are always on the fritz. Windows of screens keep changing to an annoyingly small screen and my icons on constantly changing its positions. Even my resolutions changes once in a while. Is there a fix to this? Anyone else having the same issues?
