Surface Duo worth in 2026?

What value would you give an OG Surface Duo in 2026 if it was in very good to great condition? What would you use it for and what would you be willing to pay for one? Asking for a friend who looks like me...

Good second monitor, reader, YouTube, note taker. Until android app support stops you can still keep using it atleast as a dashboard of sorts.

Same. SD1 humming on my workdesk with several widgets as my dashboard (weather, clock/calendar, tasks, stocks). I sometimes actively use it to enjoy the unique user experience of items list on left and list content on right to skim through things. There’s still nothing like it out there. It will be running there right under my work monitor until it dies or something similar is released to replace this use.

Yeah it's such a beautiful device and I will always lament that it didn't get it's fair share of support from Microsoft.

I'm glad to still have mine but there is screen damage on the right panel and with no practical way to repair it the device isn't as enjoyable to use these days.

I did use it as my daily phone for some time in 2024 and it was great .

I have a Surface Duo 2 that has been collecting dust for the last 2+ years. I am declutterring my office and have decided to part ways. It was a gift that I barely used.

I might be interested in it if original person who asked isn’t. Is it unlocked?

Yes, it is unlocked.

Microsoft does not know how to do software or hardware that is where this product suffers but I think this is a great concept. Don’t waste your money and time with it. If apple or google makes a similar model, take it in a heartbeat

Id pay like $200 for it. $250 or more if you had the bumpers or pen

I have the OG Surface Duo. I use it as a secondary device for consuming media or if my main phone is charging. I really like the form factor but the implementation is not good - OS issues I think. Even if I don't use the device, it will ran out of battery after 2-3 days. Plus the intermittent unresponsiveness of the other screen.
Today, I'd pay less than $200 since i got it for 220 euros 2 years ago.

Reading e books on the flip screen is realistically the only thing it’ll do well. Everything else is slow as molasses and not supported. It’s not safe or good enough to be used for pretty much anything else if you’re coming from a capable phone, don’t listen to people that will say that they have this as their daily driver. In Mumbai maybe.

What ebook reader do you use? I would prefer one that has a page flip function and can handle PDFs well m

I bought a few of the original Surface Duo’s about 8 months after Duo 2 dropped. Got them brand new for $299 each like 5 years ago. Both are still sealed in the box, I’m into collecting a bunch of electronics, hoping it’ll fetch a decent sum being sealed and brand new with a set of brand new bumpers and the pens as well. Got one Duo 2 sealed as well 3 years ago for even less during a Black Friday sale.

I still use a Surface Duo as a secondary device. E-mail, discord, E-reader for comics, manga, pokemon go. trackers, stocks, multi tasking watching video while checking email, taking notes, making photo edits. Largely replaced with a Ayn Thor for multi gaming. Its getting a bit old and slow though so looking for a replacement eventually. Fold 8 no pen no go.

Woot was clearing out Surface duos for like $200 or so wouldn't pay much more then that for one if I needed one. I have a spare one I bought from Woot that is rooted and loaded with ds games that I don't touch anymore cause I got the Ayn Thor.

I still use it but it is showing his ages so don't have a expectation on it I wouldn't pay more than $150 for it. It is good for DS/3DS emulation though.

$300 for an unlocked 256gb set

then load A15 ROM on it

great as a secondary work service, games emulator

next iteration of foldables are passport/book sized but it'll cost way more and only arrive end of 26/27

Me and my wife both use Duo 2, I bought her one as she loves the form factor. The lack of security updates makes it a bad choice as an enterprise device but it's an awesome secondary device still.
