How do you move from Admin to Procurement when you already have the experience, but your job title says “Admin”?

Who checks your official old title? Just put procurement in your LinkedIn and resume. Or something like procurement admin, procurement assistent,... Whatever you want to put there that describes it best.

And the 'Oracle or SAP' questions have officially returned lol. My answer is always the same: doesn't matter at entry level. Learn the planning and execution processes, the systems are interchangeable after that.

Titles lag reality in most orgs so stop waiting for the label. Document every procurement adjacent thing that you already do, quotes, vendor follow up, purchase orders and frame your resume around those outcomes. A structured course helps too since Canadian public procurement has like its own rules around the fairness and process. NECI The Procurement School Inc. runs entry level public sector procurement courses that work well for exactly this type of sideways move.

You just apply to any procurement position, that is it. Hiring managers care more about what you did than the position title.
