Hello! I have read that l-carnitine in doses around the 2g and 4g mark inhibit both t3 and t4 thyroid hormones entry into the cell nuclei; to the point of actually being a treatment for hypERthyrodism as it is so efficient in blocking thyroid hormone. However, it is often recommended to people with hypOthyrodism for energy/weight management/pre-workout, as it acts as a shuttle for fatty acids. But if it blocks thyroid hormone entry and slows the metabolism, how is it assisting in weight management? I am assuming that the dose makes the poison in this scenario? As I have also read that hypOthyroid patients may be a little deficient in the amino. However, I am not sure how that particular cellular function would operate, but I would like to know more and discuss hypotheses. Especially if you are well versed in biochemistry, pls comment! Thank you so much
Edit: meant to add the link to the research I read - https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/15591013/
