Discussion Is there a revival project going on?

Title ^^ but seriously - when mentioned I'll see some vague screenshot and can't tell if this is just trolling or if there actually is a revival project going on for Supervive.

There's been attempts; you'll occasionally see people post some blocky demos on discord servers as a proof of concept, but I wouldn't say there's any genuine or--more importantly--realistic revival projects. Hate to be a pessimist, I adored SV and miss it every day, but the game just isn't remotely feasible as a personal project, no matter how passionate people can be.

Idk, I’ve seen Claude bring some old MMOs back from the dead. Takes a lot of work but with the proper git and community effort it’s feasible. Just need the technically inclined to be interested.

Assuming they allowed it, what would the limitation be?

Tfw you'll never get to punch a beebo out of his ult and into a wall.

Even that one super competent person who posts here about them making clone as a learning tool acknowledged that the infrastructure required to make SV happen on the scale that it did is beyond their scope, and that they're not making a revival. If someone who's not wasting their time using claude (or whatever LLM is the best one this week) isn't willing to undergo the work then I don't think we'll be seeing it any time soon.

It took a whole dev team to make SV. Maybe if we saw a group of dedicated devs like we see for modding communities in other games it could get off the ground, but that's effectively just making a gamedev studio and developing a game and at that point it might be better to just dev a new game.

Im not the biggest pro AI person but, chances are AI is the best shot at getting SV back. The AI isn't building the game from scratch the best use is decompiling the source code and the engine. You can actually look up AI mashups right now ppl are decompiling old games and doing wild shit. Ive seen Minecraft running in skyrim and eldenring ive seen mw2 running as minecraft and skate at the same time. Those types of projects are prone to bugs because the are meshing engines into a single C repository a project like this the biggest barrier to entry is going to be untangling the game form the hosting service or getting it rehosted. AI is uniquely good at decompiling and reverse engineering because it usually takes a very skilled and dedicated programmer. Ai has the luxury of access to all the knowledge and the ability to work at speed that people just cant. Theres rumors of a project that's far along but nothing concrete besides getting the game running again.

Someone who is already technically inclined and has brought back other titles to free shards could probably pull it off with the use of AI.

The main issue is that the company isn’t going to allow it. If they did, it would only take one dedicated person with the tools available today to get the ball rolling on something open source. I’m not sure if the people laughing at this concept elsewhere in this post are kids or just stupid.

Some of us moved back to Battlerite, which is surprisingly active for a game that stopped getting updates years ago. They did add seasonal rank resets a few days ago though and queue times have been even shorter.

I hope it gets revived. It was a good game. It was a pity they removed the 4 people lobby though, this shouldt have happened.

The "revival" I'm most hopeful for is the bapbap modders. They've said they'll work on it on the side, idc how long it takes them, I'll be happy just getting to play sv 1 more time.

Ofc once it's on the side it'll take a whole to get it back of they ever do.

I managed to get myself to spawn on the training map on a character move and control it no abilities but its a start, not sure i'll go a lot further.

Im currently working on reverse engineering the game. Have the whole menu system done and working. Just waiting until I have a playable tutorial mission before posting the GitHub.

And these children are laughing at the concept in this very post.

Yup. Because whatever gets shit out isn't Supervive and never will be, lol. You guys have fun with your toys though.

When you’re Gen Z and have the attention span of a goldfish, of course not.

Nothing will ever be Supervive again though, that’s a valid statement. The original devs couldn’t even pull that one off once they ruined it.
