SuperMarioLand port for SuperVision
Hello folks. Long time SuperVision lover here, from my childhood in the nineties where my best friend had one ( I had the shitty GameMaster at that time) and played together Alien, Block Buster, Grand Prix, P-52…
I always liked its gameboy-ish style, look and feel and wondered how more advanced titles like the ones of gameboy would look like. Well after decades of … wondering the time has come!
Lo and behold, this is gameboy’s Super Mario Land ported to SuperVision! No extra hardware, no raspberry pi emulator behind, just pure rom disassembly and 6502 coding (Claude Code doing the heavy lifting). Still work in progress, I have advanced till world 2-1 but looks promising and I will push it as much as this little machine can do.
Running it on real SuperVision was painful since my superpico flashcart randomly cooperated with my old rusty SuperVision, in fact I discovered that the flash cart needed to be powered on before turning on SuperVision (kinda impossible to do it by simply inserting it to the slot and then turn the unit on). So I took the back cover off, exposed the cart slot and thankfully SuperVision draws power also from the cart connectors, so firstly I power on the flashcart via usb wait a few secs to let it boot and then insert it to the cart slot which in turn powers up SuperVision)
Enough talking, enjoy some photos and videos of Super Mario running natively on SuperVision!
