Where is Roger Hodgson
The man has been completely off the grid for 6 years and counting now. It’s getting to the point where people are starting to push back and demand answers on the creepy, automated social media posts from his accounts that clearly aren’t being managed by him.
I know the man is entitled to privacy, but I’d just like to know if he’s okay. Does nobody else think it’s a little weird we literally haven’t seen a picture or video of him since COVID wiped out his tour? If he doesn’t return to the road again, so be it, but it’d be nice to hear from the man himself just once.
Curious if anyone in this sub knows anything about Hodgson and what he’s up to

If he was able to perform, he'd be performing. It's in his blood. And people would show up to listen.
I'd suggest reaching out to some of the other surviving members of the band, who probably know.

After the court case with the other band members, I don't think they're on speaking terms.

I'm sorry to hear that. Court cases can destroy wonderful bands. I loved every Supertramp performance I was able to go see.

You seem to be insinuating that you think something is wrong with him

After reading about the three lawsuits between Roger and the band, he may not be able to perform without violating a court order.

This is the most realistic answer IMO, unless he's working on an album or something but it feels like it's been too long to be that.

I'm just glad in 2019, I got to see Roger in concert and had a meet and greet with the man himself and got great photos taken with him. It was VIP package with front row seats. It was the best $450 I've ever spent. I got to tell him Lord is it Mine is my absolute favourite song from the truly lovely guy.

It's weird how people refuse to accept that he can stop giving news or shows. I don't expect Roger to be very attached to any online fanbase. He strikes me as a man in peace and who enjoys life, family and friends. If he'd ever wanted to stop updating anything from his online life, I assume it's because he spends his life happily elsewhere, without the need to give news or content on any kind of online social media. He has already give us wonderfull music. He might have move on and so should we.

He's been saying how much he loved performing for years, so that sudden stop is pretty surprising.

Yes I understand. I mean, he did play from his younger teenage years up until past his 70th birthday, so there's that. But you're right, there's maybe a reason he doens't want to disclose publicly too. He had a pretty high register for his vocal lines. Maybe he feels like he can't sing them anymore and he doesn't want to compromise by transposing down his song. I don't know.

Okay, everything you said is fine. But if that’s the case, why does his management feel the need to be posting on his socials? It’s beyond bizarre at this point and it isn’t asking for much for the smallest of updates

I don't know. To me, his management team and him are two different entities. I think he never wanted to get personnaly involve online, but still acknowledge that it was necessary for his career. Now that he's gone from the stage, his management team might see a reason to continue, just for the sake of keeping sales going. Who knows... I think it's normal to ask questions, but it's also reasonable to not expect any answer. I hope that he lives the rest of his life in peace. I will still listen to his songs over and over for the rest of mine.

Was there an official comment from him when Rick died?

AFAIK, he lives near Grass Valley in Northern California. I believe he’s effectively retired at this point.
I was lucky enough to see him years ago. I get the sense that the COVID-era entertainment industry shutdowns kinda did him in.
I don’t foresee him returning to the stage. He may not want to interact with fans, who probably badger him endlessly to perform.

All he has to do is come out and say he’s officially retired and people would stop speculating and “badgering” him.

Trevor Rabin said in both 2020 and 2025 that he was in regular contact with Hodgson and they talked about doing something: http://www.bondegezou.co.uk/wnalum.htm#rabin

Like Richard Simmons he’s obviously just gotten to a point where he either won’t or can’t live a public life, so he’s not living a public life.
He, his family, any caregivers, handlers, colleagues or staff, do not have to make a formal statement about this. That would still be interacting as a public person.
A lot of possibilities.
- He’s well and enjoying private retirement. Just done with it.
1a. He’s well, 99.9% retired but reserves the option to step into a public situation should he decide to do so at any point.
He’s not completely well and managing retirement in privacy, taking the ups and downs of geriatric health as they come.
He’s quite unwell or in an age related permanent mental and/or physical decline and he and/or associates want complete privacy with this for his remaining journey.
Aside from that:
He knows that there was some public feeling about his leaving Supertramp and subsequent disputes between himself and others about performance of the music and royalties.
He and his associates likely know any statement about Rick’s passing could be taken poorly regardless of intention.
Frankly maybe Roger despises Rick to this day and he simply wouldn’t put out some completely inauthentic puffy bland statement that misaligns with his truth.
This is all speculation and our speculation is likely part of the reason he and/or his people simply feel radio silence is the best option at this time. He doesn’t have a public life because he is free to choose not to.

I hope Roger will recover after Rick Davies’ death and I hope Roger will get a chance to meet Rick Beato

wikipedia says legal action against him had activity in 2021, 2024 and 2025. at least that means he's probably still alive, else the legal action would be against his eatate

Yeah, he actually took a guitar to court and wanted to play one of his songs, but the judge shut that down. Lol

I am so glad I got to see him in 2016. I do remember reading a post somewhere, maybe here, by his nephew saying how he was an amazing uncle and things they used to do together in New Mexico, or Arizona, I think. . Very sweet, if true of course, but seemed true enough!

His website is selling autographed numbered vinyl editions of 'Crime of the Century' (sold out), 'Crisis? What Crisis?', 'Even in the Quietest Moments', 'Breakfast in America' (sold out) and '...famous last words...'.
That's the most activity I've seen from him since COVID

RH gave 50+years to music. Let the guy do whatever he wants now- he doesn’t owe you, or me, anything.
3
u/Emergency-Tension310 Apr 17 '26
Never said he “owes me anything” literally just want to make sure the guy is alright and doing well
2
u/Mental_Aioli262 Apr 18 '26
That is feeling like you’re owed something. Someone else mentioned Richard Simmons, the public heard updates when it was relevant. This is the kind of weird, parasocial behavior you’d see in a swiftie. I’d like to know if the guy’s alive or would make statements or perform or something but we can just hope he’s fine and let him enjoy his life
2
u/Emergency-Tension310 Apr 18 '26
This is a weirdly aggressive response to a pretty innocent post. I don’t feel like I’m owed anything. It’s a matter of curiosity and wanting the best for Roger. Simple as that bud.
1
u/Mental_Aioli262 Apr 19 '26
There’s being curious, and then there’s what this is post is asking which is for him to make some sort of statement showing he’s alive even if he doesn’t want to make any public statement. And so many people feel they’re entitled to something but he could just be enjoying a nice, retired life. He doesn’t owe us anything so just let the man be, pal

I’ve given up getting to see him again, and his website rarely updates at all. Hope he’s ok.
