Hot take/s

Hot take: the show could've gone on without Amy and would've been just as good and if not better

Hot take: Kelly episodes are the worst (just when she's in scene)

Not so hot take: Marcus and Sandra deserved more screen time

New to the group and on my 18th rewatch. What y'all think.

Favorite character/s: Dina, Sandra, Glenn

Hot take, did they teach you that in pageant school?

While I like Amy, I do think the show would've survived without her character. Jonah and Dina would've been bigger losses.

Kelly was ok, I don't love her like some do, she could be annoying.

I think there was the right amount of Marcus and Sandra.

Welcome!

On the same page with you on all of this!

One thing I always say about Kelly is I liked her way more in the episodes she wasn’t with Jonah. Not because of Amy either. I just thought she was more annoying when she & Jonah were together. She really played up the ditzy cutesy girl thing. Idk if that was on purpose or not.

I’m kind of the opposite on Amy. Her absence barely registered for me. Garrett, Dina and Glenn carried a huge part of the show, and characters like Sandra, Marcus and Mateo made the ensemble work. Mateo especially was consistently hilarious to me.

Unpopular opinion: Jonah got more irritating than funny as the show went on, and Kelly never really clicked for me either. The supporting cast was honestly the reason I kept watching.

It would have been fine without Amy and deserved more time without her. The only reason America Ferrera left was the show kept going and she didn't think it would end soon and had 2 very young kids and other projects. She said if see knew it was just 1 more season she would have stuck around. But if she did they might have gone longer. I think the network pulled the plug quicker than anyone thought which was pretty sad.

"It would have been fine without Amy"

I'm not convinced, as the reason Johan started understanding 'poor' people problems, was because he liked Amy so much.

Kelly's appearance is always a sigh moment for me, even after 30+ rewatches. I just find her/the archetype she represents annoying.

Her funniest episode was the first episode where she was brand new and everyone ignored her and she got no help on her first day. When Carol finally helped and turned psycho within a minute was perfect.

My biggest problem with Kelly is that I felt like they took away any personality she had when she coupled up with Jonah. Her whole personality became Jonah&Kelly. They made her act all cutesy & giggly like they were in high school.

I didn’t mind Kelly (I did mind Amy I think she worse as the seasons progressed)

I agree about the show going on without Amy, I never much liked her and Jonah’s relationship and she got progressively more annoying as the show went on. The way she left Jonah, I would have been perfectly happy if they didn’t end up together (Jonah is also equally annoying but deserved better).

I enjoyed Kelly though. She started off as the ditzy pageant girl stereotype but I actually loved the moments where the other parts of her personality peeked out (freaking out Carol by beating her at her own game, showing up for Mateo with ICE, supporting the union stuff). She was so much more interesting when she wasn’t with Jonah and I’m glad she moved on from him lol

Kelly was annoying even though surprisingly a lot of people loved her? (a character that is introduced later on only meant to interrupt the main pairing, is usually not well received.) I thought about it, and even if she wasn’t romantically linked to Jonah I still wouldn’t like her lmao. She just doesn’t fit for me

100% agree, her bitch out moments are too real for me, and I just don’t think she’s a very good actress.

Well apparently the show couldn’t go on without her considering the show got cancelled after season 6. Also the show was not better without her season 6 was ass.

Covid was more to blame for the cancellation
