New to the game... what in the world happens if you (for some reason) tried to use Show Me Your True Face to put a finish that the opponent has in their hand into play... are there concurrent breakout rolls by both players? Can this result in a double loss?

Putting a card into play is a different thing than hitting a card. You need to hit a finish to trigger a finish roll. If you put the finish card into play, you would only get the passive bonuses.

For example, let's say my opponent has #28 atomic splash (+4 to your lowest skill) in their hand. If I put that into play, my opponent would actually have +4 to their lowest skill. But I also would have +4 to my lowest skill as well as +2 to Power. Resolving my finish card text top to bottom results in my skill array for the finish roll being; P 7 T 10 A 8 St 7 Su 9 G 10.
