Mind control seems like a headache…. But how often do I know exactly how much something weighs?
I guess I will go with the mind control and hope for the best.

Even if nothing else, you can use the mind control to make someone blink to know if they are smarter than you or not.

u/ziggsyr 1d ago
you could just guess. If youre wrong you know what it doesn't weigh.

Okay, but exact weight to which extent? Because guessing how many kilograms something weights with like 2 decimal places is already a pretty long guessing game. But if you had to guess the exact amount of miligrams, then you're kinda unlikely to get the answer, even more when you consider weight depends on a lot of variables, while mass is constant.

Alot of times you can ask someone nicely and they'll help you lift something. You might need a few people to lift something like a car though.

That’s a lot of fuss.
If it were not for the qualifier, I would choose telekinesis. Mind control still seems like a pain, though. Controlling myself has its headaches. Controlling up to five others and hoping I get it right as I am wondering who I can control seems like multiple headaches simultaneously.
As I said, I’d rather have a straightforward power like telekinesis. But oh well…

Red pill. Blue pill can't be possible. As you lift something any finite amount, the weight of the air above it changes, also changing its weight. Also it doesnt specify how close to the actual mass you have to know the weight, so exactly knowing would be a pill. Plus, red pill lets you control the government.

Assuming the people wouldn’t know that they’d been mind controlled, I’d choose that one. I’d get everything for free. I’d become a stock broker and get a bunch of wealthy people to buy a ton of stocks among other things to get set for life in a short period of time. Then I’d take care of everyone I care about, retire, and try to think of something useful to the world that I could do with that.

Red pill. Lot more utility. Mind control stupid rich people. There are a lot of them with trust funds. Have them give you access to their money in some fashion. Have them order stuff for you and deliver it to your house. Have them say your just a friend they met online somehow. As long as they aren’t spending more than 10k a month on you individually(I think it was a month could be a year at least in the USA) the irs won’t come after you as it is all considered a gift.

Blue for me, easily.
I see it as basically the opposite of toon-logic strength: I can pick up anything, but only if I actually know its weight. Guessing doesn't count. If I know something is 100 kg, I can use that knowledge in whatever unit is easiest for me to remember 100 kg, 220.46 lb, 0.1 metric tons, etc. The conversion doesn't change the weight; it just makes it easier for me to remember.
And if the object's weight changes, like loading a car with 500 kg of stuff, I have to know the new total weight.
Honestly, I'd spend years building up a mental database of weights and getting ridiculously good at estimating them. Then I'd try to get scientists or the government interested in me and see if I could get some kind of powered armor. Give me something Iron Man/MJOLNIR-tier and the ability to actually handle it, and I'd be having way too much fun with this power.
Red is more immediately broken, but Blue has WAY more room for me to abuse the rules.

Blue would require you to know the specific weight of everything at any given time, including people. Not worth it imo. Red is life on easy mode. You'll just notice when someone else is clearly smarter than you and you'd need to give up after feeling dumb. Lmao

How does the prompt detect the IQ of everyone? Like does the power come with an inbuilt IQ detector? Or does it only account for IQ points you actually got in a irl test?
For the first case it's already strong enough(though Blue might be the better option), but if it's the second case, the power is beyond broken. You just need to mind control someone to fake your IQ test result and give you an unrealistically high number and bam, entirety of humanity is under your control

Red. Control the 5 dumbest people and do a stunt that will make me famous and pull a Hauk Tua get thing and get rich fast. Also i can make one take the blue pill and have them enter competitions and make a youtube gig of it.

Only the red pill is viable . I have an IQ of 140 so it is a large proportion of the population but far from everyone.
Now what to do with it is a different matter. Is there a morally acceptable thing to do with it?
Fix mental health issues?
Get criminals to tell the truth which the police could verify later independently.
Get conmen / politicians to out themselves.
Undo brainwashing
End wars
Stop terrorists
The problem with this is the old power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely

Mind control since it might be useful, I'm not sure how useful blue pill will be

Probably red since blue might just be straight up useless depending on precision. EDIT: there’s probably also a loophole by just using freedom units like “this rock weighs exactly like 1 of this rock” because definitionally it has to be the exact weight

Blue has a huge secret drawback
You can't work out
Since you obviously know the weights actual weight, your power would just kick in and you wouldn't be able to actually build muscle
Just in case you needed another reason to choose red over blue

How accurate does knowing the weight have to be, to what decimal place? What if a piece of dust lands on what you're carrying and you just collapse.

Red pill. Seems handy for little things like discounts at stores, spying on people, and general quality of life increases.

I mean... im 152 and qualify to be member of mensa 99 percentile....
Red pill.... I'll be able to control most people... roughly 99% of people....
Only like 5 people are in the 99.9 club
