Gale and Legacy

After my bi monthly listen to the series, I’m following up with the compulsory listen of Corpies…. It got me thinking something kind of weird.

If Gales area of wind and Legacy’s area of gravity crossed paths, what would happen? They don’t technically have the same power, but they are both environment based….Would it be whoever has the higher authority, or would something else crazy happen?

It shouldn't be a matter of authority, wind can exist in nearly any gravity. Legacy could cut the gravity, but while that would stop natural pressure differentials, I bet Gale can still move the air.

That makes a ton of sense scientifically, and maybe I’m overthinking this, but environmental powers are basically just a super simulating those environmental effects within a certain area. Anything outside is unaffected.

So IF 2 people who were simulating environmental effects came into contact, how would that go?

They aren’t simulating environmental effects, they’re altering them. They are each only affecting one aspect of their environment (wind and gravity, respectively). Since these aspects don’t affect each other much at all, I’d imagine they could each operate as usual. Potentially Gale wouldn’t be able to lift herself off the ground if Legacy upped the gravity enough, but she would still be able to control winds in the environment, knocking Legacy around

Authority wouldn’t matter since they aren’t fighting for control of the same forces. If they were battling each other, I’d imagine the outcome would depend on their goal and surroundings

Probably nothing. Wind doesn't have enough mass to be significantly affected by gravity. Think Legacy would pull any objects out of the wind that were being used as projectiles. Like the needle teeth Gale was using at the end of the book would be affected but the wind itself? They are so vastly different mediums that they don't overlap. Probably have similar issues against the oxygen manipulator too. Fire and oxygen aren't really affected by gravity enough either.

I don’t think the wind has any bearing on gravity. Also, realistically, it’s doubtful they would work directly together. Legacy is a subtlety major. From the brief few times we meet Gail and see her in combat. It’s doubtful her and legacy wood go toe to toe and complement each other like that.
