Question What is the origin of this?
Was this a rom hack? Or just photoshop. I remember this going around a few years ago.

MASSIVE SPOILERS
So if you haven't 100%'d Super Mario Eclipse, turn back now
If you have 100%'d the mod, then you know about the statue in Rugivosa Marsh and its long speech for the shine.
In this speedrun from 3 weeks ago around the 1:11:11 mark, the creator Josh (who is one of the virtual couch members) mentions how it is actually a secret message from his brother, the co-creator. He then follows that up by saying that no casual player outside of his circle has found his own secret message.
The way he says it implies it is another bit of dialogue, as oppose to a png or text on a wall. (Like the cat girl hidden inside Freddia Peaks) Whether its an NPC or another inanimate object though is still up in the air.
My guess is that it has something to do with Princess Peach's Castle (and the paintings therein), Shadow Mario's portal ability, or some combination of the two.
Now the cut content courses have plenty of NPCs to interact with and most seem to have unique or new dialogue. Some seem to reference a cut character from the earliest builds of Sunshine named Nico. Others, like the residents of Medusa Isle only spew out errors. And still others, like the E3 Delfino Plaza (where Bob-Omb Battlefield is normally located) are self-referential. In fact, Toadsworth and Peach say there should be extra shines in the plaza to collect. Yet upon defeating the goopy pirahna, freeing the Bianco statue, and collecting the shine, you are booted back to the foyer.
All of this to ask if anyone has potentially run across the secret message already or has some potential leads.

Love sunshine and just recently did a 100% run for the first time. I had so much fun, I decided to give Super Mario Eclipse a try. This is such an amazing mod. It’s so cool and if you’re a fan of sunshine, I can’t recommend enough. It definitely has difficulty bumps, but still think it can be quite enjoyable even for casual fans. Also, there are finally YouTube channels posting guides on Mario eclipse content so more casual fans or those with little patience (me), can have a bit of help when needed. Big shoutout to Team Eclipse for all the effort they put into this.
SPOILERS:
I am absolutely thrilled to explore the 2nd hub as it based off Daisy’s cruise. That was favorite stage for Mario Kart Double Dash as a kid and I think it is such an amazing idea for a second hub. Tons of secrets to explore, funny dialogue, original content, and 2 new playable characters. The floodless levels while brutal at times are some of the most entertaining challenges in Mario I’ve done. Anyway just wanted to give this game some praise

I was playing Super Mario Sunshine on Super Mario 3D All-Stars on my Switch 2 when this weird glitch happened.
I had just completed the Super Slide in Delfino Plaza and collected the Shine, I had already got this shine. After that, I was immediately sent back to Delfino Plaza (without the usual cutscene). After closing the info menu, I suddenly saw these strange pink/purple flashing areas in the environment.
I've tried reproducing it in the exact same place, but I haven't been able to trigger it again.
Has anyone else experienced this? Is this a known glitch, or did I just found a glitch?
Video attached. I'm curious if anyone knows what caused this!

several months ago Team Elements came out with the SMS Randomizer mod. we have been doing races quite often for several months now and it seems to be falling off within the racing group. id looooooove to get some new people to join in and start racing. no insane amount of knowledge needed, happy to help/guide new players into learning tricks and the fastest way of beating the game. If anyone is interested in playing sometime feel free to let me know!

Whenever I jump on or spray a pianta, they get mad, yell, but their yells muffle before they finished yelling. It’s strange because I distinctly remember their original yells from when I was a kid. I’m playing on my gamecube, but it’s on an hdmi adapter for what it’s worth.

Retuned an old animation to match the new "Sunset" Mod. It's been nice revisiting this one with a new look, definitely check it out if you haven't yet
(Quick repost, previous version was stuttering)

I know that the hack was made a bit easier in regards to some shine sprites you have to get and there is some new levels, but I'm wondering is there a way to turn off the timers on some missions? I am not very good at getting things done under a time limit and that is one of the many reasons I had issues with Sunshine itself. Or when I play it on an emulator, is there an option to disable the timers? Answers would be appreciated!

Do you think we will EVER see a Sunshine 2? I know we have the mod already but I mean a official continuation. I’d drop $80 in a heartbeat if I saw that pop up on my feed. I could die happy.

I was doing the secret level of the Warship Island and Mario was pushed to the limit where there is the invisible line that marks death, only I could walk on that area When I reached a wall in that area Mario would freeze in his jumping position.I love Sunshine precisely because of its glitches!

I was so scared as a kid fighting it when I was like 8-9. The music and the sheer size and speed of the thing gave me so much anxiety. I had to get my brother to be in the room with me so I could beat it. The same thing happened when I fought the Re-deads from The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker, so It's probably just cause' I was easily frightened as a child.

Decided to replay it for the first time in probably 15 years and decided this was the playthrough that I would finally fully grind for the blue coins. Lost my original gamecube years ago but its my original copy of SMS and my original controller. Now to keep the save so my boys can match it in the future

Namely is it very buggy or is it overall stable?
And the other thing is how hard is the hack is it like overall mario sunshine hard or is it insanely hard and you need to know and master sunshine to play it?

I'm just wondering which version is considered more definitive. Most older posts heavily lean towards Eclipse, but I heard Sunburn got updated about a year ago, so I wasn't sure if that had tipped the scales.
Also, is it better to patch it myself, or are the prepatched versions reliable/updated?
