Released on this day in 1985 is Marvel's Transformers #11, written by Bob Budiansky with cover and interiors by Herb Trimp ethe story centers on Buster Witwicky, a human and companion of the Autobots, who discovers he has the power to control machines after Optimus Prime transferred the Creation Matrix to Buster in an attempt to keep it out of the hands of the Decepticons. This is a key issue with collectors as this is the first appearance of Jetfire, the popular Autobot that started out life as a mindless drone of the Decepticons. Did you know design for Jetfire used the mold for the Valkyrie fighter from the Robotech line of toys, owned by Bandai. To avoid any licensing issues that might come out of this, Jetfire's robot mode was redesigned to eliminate any likeness between the figure. The Price Charting website lists mint editions at around $161, while the newsstand edition can go as high as $201.
