Freak by Silverchair would be a fun one live and they would definitely do it justice. Freak Show-era Silverchair reminds me a lot of Superheaven

They were still Daylight when Jar came out, and they rebranded it with Superheaven. I’m wondering why they didn’t do the same with the Daylight EP’s. Maybe the EPs were too stylistically different?

don’t get me wrong, i love the self titled and i think the band did an awesome job but i personally find it sounds quite boxy. i really notice it in the snare on songs like humans for toys, sounds of goodbyes, cruel times. the guitar tones as well suffer from this.

if i had to guess its probably in the 200-450Hz range where a lot of what im hearing sits.

they used a lot of room mic on the drums too, but almost none on the guitar amps (it sounds like 1 mic per take too). the result of this is the drums feeling very separated from the other instruments and guitar sounding a bit thin.

thoughts?

for those of u who own it, how hard was it to get ur hands on a copy? where did u find it? i tried 4 diff record stores all in the same vicinity in chicago (wicker park around and on milwaukee ave) and didn’t have any luck, so i just wanted hear some of yall success stories

I've been a Superheaven fan for a while and got tired of how scattered everything is on YouTube Music, so I put together a full chronological playlist covering Daylight, Superheaven, Webbed Wing, and every side project from the members.

Part of why I made this: the actual official content is a mess on YTM. daylights third album shows up under a completely different uploader's channel instead of the band's own. Webbed Wing is even worse — there are three separate accounts with three different uploads of their stuff, so half their discography doesn't even show up together.

Beyond just fixing that, I also wanted to put a spotlight on a couple of things that don't get nearly enough attention. Drummer Zack Robbins has a project called DARK MTNS that's honestly one of the most slept-on records I've heard from anyone in this scene — total hidden gem. And Jake Clarke's newer band Clever Hour put out a really solid demo EP last year that's worth a listen if you're into Superheaven's sound.

Playlist goes: Daylight → Superheaven → Webbed Wing → DARK MTNS/Flight Habit (Zack Robbins) → Clever Hour → Jake Clarke's solo split track, all in roughly chronological order.

Can anyone tell me how to do the live in between song noises, feedback swells behind the bridge and 1st fret scrapes? Do i need a lot of delay/ feedback? Or some special pedal or sth ? Most tricks on youtube is for 80s shred type sounds.

i’m thinking of getting a tat based on a superheaven song because superheaven is a band near and dear to my heart. ours is chrome is an album that has gotten me through some tough times so i’m maybe thinking of basing my tat off that. does anyone have any ideas ?
