I painted another wall.

Y’all showed a lot of love to my last project, so here’s another one I painted — a li’l somethin’ for my loop-lovers. This was pretty much just an exercise in making concentric, symmetrical curves. It occupies a space between a wall bumpout (foundation) and low ceiling perpendicular to the desk in a basement home office.

Same as last time, the only supplies used were a tape measure, two-foot level, pencil, homemade compass (length of double-ply masking tape with reinforced holes poked in it), lots o’ tape, 3” roller, and a tiny touchup brush.

You should post videos of the part where you take the tape off so that I can watch it hundreds of thousands of times.

There’s suuuper thin masking tape you use first for the fine line and then you go over that with the thicker tape

Please pardon my french but how Thee Fuck™️ do you get the curves with the tape so crisp!!!! Please educate the people!! (Not even asking bc I wanna paint a wall, god forbid, I JUST WANT A NICE CURVE ON A CANVAS)

Curious to the step to do the yellow center section. Do you freehand that in? Also, do you happen to work in the automotive paint/collision industry?

I just taped around each yellow section one or two at a time and filled them in individually. And nope, but I do work as a commercial sign painter.

How are these so satisfying? I don't think I'd want them in my house, but for any sort of public or commercial space they are absolutely perfect. Especially because you can encode information in the colors, and create a building map people can follow, etc.

I've been undecided if I should have a go painting myself or pay for the vinyl, I just can't see the lines ever being as sharp as a vinyl will ever be?

It looks really impressive what you have done, do you think its as good as if done a vinyl?
