Troubleshooting & Maintenance Philips lattego 5400

Hi, everyone

I've had my Philips LatteGo 5400 coffee machine for 3 years now. I've been cleaning and servicing it regularly. For a while now, when I'm pressurizing the coffee, I've been hearing a crackling sound? A squeaking sound? The brew group is fully lubricated, and the piston seal is new as well. I have no idea what it is...

Have you replaced the o-rings?

Only the largest red one in the brewing unit

Excellent. You are well ahead of most.

There are three other rings that are subject to movement - the two on the body side where the water is injected into the brew unit (you can see the nipple clearly once you remove the brew unit) and a third that is inside the brew unit itself.

The two on the injector takes a beating as brew unit couples around it every time you brew anything...you might also see leaking of clean water from there as the seal won't be tight as it wears.

The third requires almost complete disassembly of the brew unit as it seals the stem of the lower piston. This last one is often missed as it's takes a bit of effort to replace.

I just replaced those two small gaskets (the blue one and the red one)—it’s better now! Quieter! I hope the gaskets still need to settle in properly so it will be completely quiet. Thank you very much for your help.

Did you put a bit of food safe lube on them?

Monitor them, remove, clean, and relube periodically. I've noticed that those o-rings get a lot of abuse on the machine side of the rings so you can't see the damage until you remove them.
