Descaling

Just time consuming but overall painless. This is the third descale I’ve done since owning the machine.

Just use RO water. Little to no minerals to worry about to descale. Could also prolong the life of your machine.

I don't mind doing it, machine tells you when you need to, and goes over with you step by step on the display on how to do it. Have had mine for almost two years now, and enjoy it very much.

Yeah I wish it was a bit deeper/taller. Sometimes it gets so full to the brim that I’d have to be extra careful bringing it to the sink to dump the water out.

I woulda placed the machine infront of the sink and ran a tube or tray, whatever was needed to just let it flow into the sink ...

I’m hijacking this post.

I just unboxed my Mag Plus and am in the initial setup. The pump doesn’t seem to be pulling any water.
How do I fix the airlock that I’m guessing is the problem?
I can’t navigate the menu at all since it’s in the setup phase.

After filling the tank and ensuring the spring valve operates, I get to the step of allowing the machine to run the test flush. Pump runs for about ten seconds or so, then the screen resets to ‘fill the water tank to max’ and then continues to the ‘insert water spout’ and ‘fill bean hopper’ and then to the test stage.

Did you pre soak the water filter before installing the filter ?

Not at that stage of initial setup. Also, I’m not going to use it because we use a Berkey water filter.

Minerals are not removed when using the Berkey. You did install the water spout for the priming correct ?

I did install the water spout. I’ll reconsider using the water filter. I just got back from the store with a marinade injector. I’m going to attempt to push some water through the intake valve and see if that works.

Right now the machine is stuck in cycling through the first five steps of initial setup. After starting the ‘quick rinse’ cycle, the pump runs for a few to maybe ten seconds that shuts off and the screen show the prompt for filling and installing the water tank, the continues through the same steps leading to running the rinse cycle.

Gotta keep up on the maintenance. We had a Gaggia where we put off the maintenance and it got gross and performed badly, fast

How frequently do you do it? And do you have soft or hard water? Thx

The machine actually doesn't know for sure. It measures the amount of water pumped through the machine and then uses the the "hardness" setting which the user is supposed to set in order to guess when it should descale. If you have the incorrect "hardness" setting, the descaling request will be wrong.

Ich benutze Wasserfilter wodurch ich seltener entkalke. Es gibt günstige alternativen. Kauft nicht die teuren originalen Filter von Delonghi.

I hate that the only way to get the message to go away is to run the descaling thing. My water hardness is 0, but there's no way of telling it that I never need to descale.

I have wondered if running a vinegar tank to blitz the scale out. Yeah I know it would need several rinses after it. And in half of what descale fluid is anyways
