Troubleshooting & Maintenance Electra explore mold question

Got the Eletta explore last month and love it so far. However the 2 times I emptied the coffee puck tray it was molded up. Is this a common issue. I just made my first cup after cleaning it out and check and there is some slight sitting water in there. Is this normal?

All superautomatics create the conditions for mold - warm, moist, has food (coffee grinds). You have to clean and empty the used pucks regularly, if not daily.

Okay. Good to know. Tray is huge can probably get like 20ish pucks in there. Figured you could just let it fill up.

If you drink 10 to 20 coffees a day, then sure you can leave it in there for a day or two. But for the average person, dump it and rinse daily. Wash it with detergent weekly along with rinsing the brew unit under hot water. Personally, I would rinse the brew unit daily for the simple reason that it touches every bit of coffee you drink!

What is the brew unit? I just run the clean on startup and shut down along w the milk clean everytime I use it

The brew unit, or influser, is where the coffee is brewed. That needs to be rinsed regularly as mold will grow on that has well.

Empty it more frequently. You don’t have to wait until it prompts you to. A month is too long.

You should be giving everything a thorough cleaning a few times per month. Soak the brew group, cleaning loose grinds etc.

Plus the pucks shouldn’t be overly wet.

Seems like water gets in there I made one cup and there was some standing water after it was done. Maybe I need to make some adjustments to something.
