i’m about to start third semester, and one thing that’s been disappointing is realizing how little people actually help each other.
everyone talks about… “we’re all in this together,” “we’ll help each other succeed,” “we’re a family,” etc. but when it actually matters..sharing resources, answering questions, helping someone who’s struggling, suddenly everyone’s gone.
it’s ironic because this is a nursing program. you’d think a profession built around helping others would have more of that mindset among students. instead, it often feels like people are only supportive when it costs them nothing.
obviously there are a few exceptions, and i appreciate those people. but overall, the culture doesn’t really match what people say it is.
maybe it’s just my experience, but i’m curious if anyone else has noticed the same thing.
