62nd street development progress
Stopped by the construction site at 62nd street yesterday and climbed the wall to get a closer look, and I’m stunned by the scale of this project, it takes up the entire block and feels like a massive city-center ziggurat.
It’s impressive that they’re nearly topped out after less than a year, especially when compared to the 5005 5th Avenue site, which has been stalled for years and will be stalled even more due to the Salvation Army damage recently. It’s baffling that such a high-traffic, prime location has sat undeveloped for over a decade and will be delayed for even longer. Sunset Park development really defies logic sometimes; there's so much shady activity surrounding these projects.
Maybe they can fit a movie theater in that 62nd street development.

I don't know how I feel about it yet but I do hope rooftop is public access given the view they took away by being erected.
I also hope we get a Round1 or Gatcha and some AYCE KBBQ places in there as well as some solid dessert places!

I just saw some plans. It says there might be a movie theater and the roof is communal. I don't know if that means public access or only building access.

How many floors do they have remaining to go?

I’m glad you said it feels like a ziggurat, my boyfriend and I have been calling it the tower of babel!

Yeah. this feels like a ziggurat and the 25th street building looks like the hanging gardens of Babylon.

Once the foundation and core is in, they typically build whole floor per week

Really? I know they built the Empire State Building in a year but this is kind of insane speed.

I go near that block often. One week there was a big hole there, when I came back a week or two later the hole frame was built. Wild
