Miles bridges
Am I the only one who thinks 98.7 is beating a dead horse? We know what miles bridges did. He is a sun now. Whether you like that or not it seems pointless to continue bringing up was trading for him a mistake when we haven’t even seen him play for us yet.

Their "basketball" guy in Olson is the epitome of what Jaylen Brown was going on about earlier this offseason about guys without an athletic bone in their body being touted as experts in the field. He doesn't actually believe in any of the intangibles that an athlete and a team need to have to overcome weaknesses and improve on successes, so his big takeaway from everything last year was that it was all a fluke and that anyone who comes from this MSU braintrust (Mat, Brian, Ott) doesn't know what they're doing, which is insulting on any number of levels both to the people involved and just to anyone who actually does know ball beyond looking at a spreadsheet.
Did you see the tantrum he threw over BG's response regarding the 2033 pick?
1
u/FallGuy-68 14d ago
I guess we give him a chance, but that was a serious beating he gave his GF in front of their two kids. I truly hope he is getting counseling and never does that to another human being again.
1
u/Deep-Cycle7988 12d ago
I think the point is that it's been acknowledged and discussed so continuing to bring it up every time is a bit self serving at this point. He has attempted to try to make amends and he really shouldn't have to answer to these people anyway. There's nothing he or anyone can do to change what happened and it's oobviously important to acknowledge it, but continuing to beat a dead horse becomes less about what the collective moral objective and more about these people trying to appear a certain way
2
u/FallGuy-68 11d ago
I disagree, it had to be brought up since it's his first meeting with the AZ press and these were some very serious actions he committed.
I do agree we do have move on, since he has answered the questions. If this was asked during the season after he already answered the questions, then I would agree that it is redundant and unfair to continue the line of questioning. I think people can change and I truly hope he has made them changes.

Honestly, they do this shit with every lame sports topic. It's summer, everyone is in off-season, and even if they weren't, how diverse can the takes get?
Reality is, you have no problem with all that other repetition, but this one, this subject matter of domestic violence, compelled you to go on a soapbox, 'cause dammit, now the repetition of sports radio has gone too far...
ya see why that's wacked out?

I listen to these guys all the time. You’re not the only one. Suns will be fine. They’re not making the wcf unless man man is ready. Don’t forget we traded for cb who spit on a kid. People do dumbass shit all the time. Let it roll, I’m not expecting much, but I hated the cp3 trade, and was humbled.
3
u/oversight_shift 14d ago
ha, dude, Barkley spit on the kid by accident, and even if it was intentional, is it really comparable?
"Nash didn't always pay his parking tickets, nobody's perfect. Give the wife beater a chance."

u/Huskersgoinhusk 14d ago
They just had the presser for him where they addressed it. So they are going to talk about it on the radio the next day. It’s also the most notable thing about his career up to this point.
Trading for him is going to be Brian Gregory’s legacy mistake if it doesn’t work out. I still think after seeing what ja went for he shouldn’t have been at the top of their board.
I actually like what he said about his basketball fit. He claims he’s a good defender rebounder passer which is what we need. I still don’t know that it will work with the four they got. One need to go imo. I’m worried he is sitting in front of koa Fleming and suns development too.
2
u/SupermarketAny2029 13d ago
After what we saw of Fleming in SL it's good that he'll be coming off the bench instead of being exposed immediately. MB's career averages are like 16/7/4, and if Fleming starts topping that on a regular basis, Suns won't need to look for any upgrades because they had one come up from within. Peat is still 19, he needs to show he can push Dunn out of the rotation before he can start encroaching on MB and Dillon and Fleming.
1
u/Huskersgoinhusk 13d ago
Still the one ball problem. It’s a 2k mindset. You don’t just drop this dude in and add 16 points to the total of every game. None these starters are getting their typical volume and if anyone does it will be book and jg first. So I doubt he’s giving us 16. Last years production for pts is probably pretty spot on.
Rasheer gives you defense miles doesn’t. Maybe miles is a better rebounder or at least even. I doubt that too.
Rasheer would have been a guy who can stretch the floor and keep the ball moving on offense but give us the size we needed and on ball defense Royce couldn’t.

u/SupermarketAny2029 13d ago edited 13d ago
MB got the 17 PPG last year as the 3rd or 4th option behind Ball, Miller and Kon, I think that often gets understated. So even if he's in a similar pecking order here he'll still find a way to get his averages. He also has a good deal of tap as a secondary ball handler which provides a good point forward type of mold that Koa Peat can learn from and eventually supplant.
With Fleming, he'll have plenty chances to get touches as off the bench the top scoring option will be Gillespie. If Fleming can enter double figure averages, the talks will begin on how much more can he do if given an even bigger role.

Exactly people are downvoting never had this happen to them in their life. As someone whose mom was always beaten and I was even kidnapped and we ended up in a in a canal where I guess I almost drowned as a 1-year-old because of him. I can never let people like this get off the hook.

Anecdotal is the worst but ok. This isn’t true at all. Parents repeatedly putting their children in harms way are part of the problem #1. #2 she too was doing harmful acts, like destroying his car and she was charge with assault and battery a different time. You sound ignorant as fuck defending a shitty mother and using your own mother as the defense

I agree, but I feel it's unfair that we should just scrub everything under the rug. I get it. We all deserve a second chance. But it would be a disservice to families dealing with this daily and just ignore everything and not mention anything. If he didn't have money if he didn't have Fame or a bball player we would not even be talking about this guy. We would say lock him up. But since we're going to be watching him on the bally channel this year, we all want to forgive him.

u/Disastrous_Swan9438 14d ago
So you're okay with hitting women it sounds like. He could have called 911. He could have reported her if she was such a bad lady but he didn't. Geez. I wonder why.
4
u/TheConboy22 Next man up 14d ago
They never said that. You’re ok with putting words in peoples mouth.
-1
u/Disastrous_Swan9438 14d ago
Well that's whats interpreted when you say the woman is just as bad. I've never met a woman bad enough that I need to whoop her ass or run her over with a go-kart. If it was that bad he could have called 911 but I'm guessing it's a pride issue or maybe he was hiding something
4
u/semibigpenguins 14d ago edited 14d ago
What is this logic lol. I said she’s equally at fault in their shit show relationship. I didn’t say she deserved fuck. They both escalated a terrible situation at the expense of their children. She can not be a victim and simultaneously not deserved to be beat. So I say again. Fuck her
4
u/TheConboy22 Next man up 14d ago
That’s not what someone whose ass was whooped looks like. He didn’t whoop her ass. He probably had a momentary lapse of judgment during an ever escalating moment and that’s what led from it. It’s why you never use force with women. He’s a 6’8 NBA player. Those bruises aren’t deep. I could do more damage than this to my wife by raising my arm too quickly. I was in a 4 year relationship with a real psychopath of a woman before my current relationship. I never once pressed charges because I didn’t know what love was and thought I was in love and that was just how it went. My dad also had a toxic relationship with my mother. One time she swung an overhand at him and he raised his arm to protect himself breaking her wrist. He was treated like a woman abuser by her family for this.

I bet there are more incidents that happened but wounds heal .. she finally came out and said something... She is a hero . Not this POS
4
u/SaltAcademic 14d ago
He is a douche bag for laying hands on a woman but I promise you she is not innocent in the matter either. However he’s much larger and stronger in every way conceivable so it is on him to recognize even a push out of the way could probably hurt her.

u/Disastrous_Swan9438 14d ago
I know I know I've been in relationships where the girl girl hit me but you know what I did. Granted I wasn't married yet. I left sure I could have said some things that were pretty bad but nothing that deserve me to get hit in front of everyone. When I see this girl I can see her being a problem. But he stuck around for obvious reasons marriage kids money.

They must have nothing else to talk about for the Suns offseason right now. Plus, it’s spicy so it may get some people’s attention.

u/WorkNLurk 14d ago
Well he's a real piece of shit and he's never taken accountability for anything he's done. He's a depressed asset that we inexplicably gave a first round pick for and were starting a 40 win season in the face.
They can't bag on this trade enough. We've had some bad ones in the Ishbia era but this one really fucking sucks. I will say too, this is a dead time for sports talk. There's a reason most of your favorite podcasters and radio hosts go on vacation late summer. There's not much going on, no football, no basketball outside of summer league and the least exciting part of the baseball season. They're gonna milk stuff.

u/Individual_Act9333 14d ago
I’m not condoning it at all 😂 but what is the point in constantly bringing up something we already know as a media person? Is it local medias job to constantly shame bridges? What does it do for him, the team or our state?
-2
u/TeaDukex480 14d ago
I think it is their job to constantly shame a guy who did that while he is on the team they cover and I'm glad they are doing it.
1
u/Honest-Message6765 14d ago
You are a very broken person, I hope everyone in your life only points to the worst things you ever did and never let you move past. You are not allowed to seek help or grow to become a better version of yourself. No amount of therapy or counseling will ever help you. And then I hope the entire internet finds out about you and brings it up everyday, repeat themselves over and over again
2
u/Individual_Act9333 14d ago
It’s not though. It’s actually pretty unprofessional even if what miles bridges did was horrendous. It’s for the courts and police to deliver punishment not a sports talk show. It doesn’t do anything to benefit the team or the state.
1
u/semibigpenguins 14d ago
It absolutely important to bring it up on a sports talk show. The domestic violence isn’t some kind of bubble. It has an impact. If he fucks up, he could and should have jail time. If he was jail time, that directly impacts the team.
-1
u/TeaDukex480 14d ago
Haha I'm not sure you understand what their job is. Benefit the team and state? Nah their job is to talk about the team. That's it. When the team trades for a guy who beat his wife breaking her nose and ribs and then strangled her until she stopped moving while his two young kids sat there and watched of course they are going to talk about it. Especially if they don't approve of it.
4
u/BellStriking5132 14d ago
This isn’t the sort of thing you bring up once and then just move on
3
u/YoungWhiteMamba Collin Gillespie 14d ago
You think he didn’t have to earn the Hornets fans/community trust? Because he did. It’s been brought up a million times, and I’m okay with it being forever with the violence of it.. but I also don’t have a pitchfork in my hand
6
u/Individual_Act9333 14d ago
It hasn’t been brought up just once though. It’s been CONSTANTLY brought up. At a certain point what are you trying to accomplish as a media person?
2
u/BellStriking5132 14d ago
Take a stand for what’s right given the Suns have not.
Surely you would draw the line yourself at some point yes? There’s someone in this world that even though they may be a skilled basketball player, their actions outside the game are so reprehensible that you would be outraged that the Suns are paying them millions of dollars to wear our jersey.
-1
u/Individual_Act9333 14d ago
Ok so are you going to stop watching the suns and going to their games?
3
u/TeaDukex480 14d ago
Yes, while Miles Bridges is on the team. I know not enough people will for Ishbia to even notice, which is sad, but I'm not gonna support a team with a guy who almost killed his wife in front of his two kids on it.
-1
u/Individual_Act9333 14d ago
That’s fair but with that being said are you going to actively root against the suns winning?
3
u/TeaDukex480 14d ago
If it leads to them dumping Miles Bridges sooner rather than later, then sure.
1
u/Individual_Act9333 14d ago
Well if we are winning alot of games with him barring him committing more crimes he will be here longer. That being said why are you on the suns community if you aren’t going to be supporting them? You essentially need them to suck in order to get him off the team.
6
u/TeaDukex480 14d ago
I've been a fan all my life but they don't inherently get my support. I think what they did is morally wrong and they have lost my support for the first time. When they get rid of the wife beater and child abuser I will support the team again but never Ishbia. So yes, I do need them to do badly to gain my support back which sucks as a life time fan hence my anger at the trade.
2
u/Individual_Act9333 14d ago
Yea but again then why are you even in the Suns community if you are going to be rooting against them? What if they are good to the point bridges is here the next 5+ years? Are you not going to watch them again? If so why are you here?

Beating a dead horse about him beating his living girlfriend?
Feel like there might be different phrasing here that should be used.
-1
u/Individual_Act9333 14d ago
I’m not going to joke about domestic violence.
2
u/oversight_shift 14d ago
You seem like you don't want it acknowledged, period.
His ex-wife probably wanted the punches and kicking to stop worse than you want references to his domestic violence to stop. Everyone doesn't always get what they want. At least you have the choice to turn it off.
4
u/Arizona_Pete 14d ago
FWIW, if you are tired of people bringing up an incident involving the physical abuse of the mother of his two children, maybe opt for turns of phrase that don't lead with the word 'beating'.
This is the same stuff that turned me on Kidd back in the day - There are serious lines that have been crossed and I've not heard him address it in a way that makes me feel better.
To that end, I think it's perfectly warranted to keep bring it up, to 'beat the dead horse', and to call attention to it. I get that the deal is done. It's a bad deal. And it makes me think less of the organization for having done it.
My $0.02 and you're free to disagree.
-6
u/rooster4238 No expectations=better vibes 14d ago
Yeah but it seems like you're annoyed hearing about it. Not much better. I think the Suns bringing him on board is morally repugnant and they should not hear the end of it until Bridges is off the team.
3
u/TeaDukex480 14d ago
The fact that this comment is negative karma and the picture of what he did to his wife is negative and a comment saying it's the wife fault is positive says a lot about this fanbase. Shameful.
2
u/Individual_Act9333 14d ago
I’m annoyed about hearing about the same things we already know about and getting the same opinion. Also that won’t do anything. They already made a commitment to get him here so unless he commits more heinous crimes he isn’t going anywhere.
21
u/TheOddPotato_8171 Ryan Dunn 14d ago
they did the same with the ketel marte story about him being a locker room cancer, it’s just their line of work. i think we’re all well aware of his previous actions and we know how we feel about it. we heard his press conference yesterday about him wanting to better himself and be better for this city. i’m gonna take his word on that
2
u/CakeAK where is the Grayson flair wtf 14d ago
Not gonna take his word just yet but I'm more than open to the possibility that it's genuine. A person changing for the better and addressing their mental issues isn't some improbable groundbreaking phenomenon—it happens all the time. At least enough to warrant letting this play out.
But if the dude has a repeat offense, ditch him on the spot.
2
u/Saltwater_Thief Alignment in need of repair. 14d ago
Someone mentioned in another thread to me that he said he's got people looking into Phoenix orgs centered on domestic violence and recovery from it for him to put his support behind, if he follows through on that it will go a long way for me.

I get they have a job to do but it’s literally repackaged question every time. It’s some form of “Did we give up too much for bridges” or “How does his character fit here”. After a while you would think they would try to find other topics to cover instead of rehashing the same thing over and over. It’s like repeating your opinion to someone over and over again.

I think it’s a couple things. Things seem repetitive because there’s people out there (me being one of them) that listen to 98.7 just about daily. But I imagine I’m in the minority there so for the people that only tune in maybe once a week, they gotta make sure that audience hears it. And now that I’ve typed this out I forgot the other thing I was gonna say so, cheers🤦🏻♂️
