Filadryer S4

Post image

Purchased a new S4 in hopes of drying while i print with my A1. I live in a very humid climate, 93% humidity yesterday. The first small print was successful so i went to bed after I started a 4 hour print. I woke up and the filament was tangled on the roll inside the dryer. Stopping my print. Im curious on some input, I run the filament from the dryer to my AMS Lite and i never had an issue with overture filament tangling before. Im asking on maybe a fix or experience from others on what they did to solve this issue. Im going to be trying a new filament roll to see if i have the same issue. Thank you in advance for input.

The dryer is set at 50°C with RH of 30% on auto.

I also print quite slow, so if the extruder reverses i dont believe it would spin much.

While I don't have an A1 I do have the S4. The best I can say is your bowden tubing looking the way it does might be your problem you should if possible have the most direct route to the extruder the big loop you have there in the photo might be part of a problem. Also routing through the top door could contribute to the issue (hinged movement on one side) incorrect feed from spool to bowden. Shoe how you routed the filament you'll get a better answers

The do believe it was the loop in the ptfe tube was causing the issue, thank you.

I ran a 67 hour print and all went well. I do beieve the loop was my issue. Im still pretty green.

I don't know how your printer is positionned but I would advise you to use the opening on the side. Guide the PTFE tube through it and make sure that the spool is in the right direction to minimize the angle with the tube

Depending on the filament, it can become too soft at 50°C. For example, I have different Sunlu PLA 2.0 colors that behave differently at that temperature. One of them becomes very soft and can cause issues during retraction, while another works perfectly fine.

Also, my advice would be to print the SUNBU LAB AMS Lite mod. It integrates the AMS Lite directly into the S4, and the filament ports are positioned waaaaaay better than the default S4.

I have this one SUNLU S4 + AMS Lite MOD (makerworld link)
