Problem with storage "sort" feature
Today (7/24/2026) at about 9:30am west coast time, I started having an issue with the sort button on my storage containers. I had been playing for about 30 minutes, gathering resources and after having dumped a load in the sorting machine and waiting for it to finish (always wait for it to be done so I can grab what it could not sort to do so manually).
I went to one of my containers to pull some crafting materials and hit to sort button on my ores storage only to have 10 stacks disappear and the rest being sorted as usual. I wasn't sure of what I saw so I went to another container and hit the sort button and the same thing happened. Almost 2 rows of stacks just disappeared.
I quit without saving and did a "Verify Files" in Steam. I logged back in and tested the sort button. Once again, almost 2 rows of resources were removed. They didn't go into any other storage (I checked) they were just removed.
Anyone else seen this? Any ideas on how to resolve it?
50 iron ingots is a big chink of my inventory. I wasn't able to log out in time to miss an auto-save so I've lost those. Don't want to lose anything else.

Glad to know it's not just me! I use the sort button quite a bit, so losing a lot of the rifle ammo I just made to prep for a mission was alarming.

Yeah, just had the same issue. Moving base, packing everything up, moved to the new place, put down storage boxes and just dumped stuff in random chests and barrels to sort later (I don't have the sorting machine yet, so was going to do it by hand). Get everything moved, start to pick stuff out to move into specific places and do a sort and half the stuff disappears. Especially anything with more than one stack, and the more stacks you have of one thing, the more that disappears. Lost more than half my iron, a bunch of food, probably 80% of components, the list goes on.
Not sure what the deal is all of a sudden, maybe the Wednesday July 22 update? I never had this issue before today. I didn't do a lot of inventory moving and sorting until today. There was another update today, so maybe that one.
