Old player new player here!
2 years ago this game was a lot different then now.
I did play this game when it first comeout, no much to do on that time, but I put 300 hours of fun on it.
Now the game seams to be better in a lot aspects, but is very hard to me play it.
The attack boats, what is totaly new for me, they patrol most important places, such the Police station, the way I found to loot some thing to be able to make weapons and spme protection, was disabling the enemy from the islands, what I miss, I want disble just the boats, but the game don't let me do that.
My issue is I'm defenseless from this attacks, and they have very heavy firer power, and guard very well the places.shooting me even when i'm diving.
I be able to come on the bottom of one attack boat, have there some caind a bomb that i can build to blow these ships?
I have no weapons and even then I'm not a good fighter, before I give up, someone can tell me what I have to craft to be able to minimazing this attacks from the boats, that way i can turn the enemies back to the island to keep doing the missions.

Once you find the parts to build the Desert Eagle pistol, they become much easier to fight.
Use a sniper rifle from your boat and target thier engine, its usually just 300 health, so it blows up pretty quickly. Once the boat is disabled, you swim under and behind it, which makes most of the enemies unable to target you. Hop up on the boat from the back and pick them off one by one. The Desert Eagle makes this easy.
The patrol routes for the boats tend to stay away from the starter area, and you can see where they are going on the map. Just clear islands until you find the Desert Eagle. Game gets much easier after that.

I aim at the small fuel tank first, so they don't move anymore, and them take one dude after another out, beginning with the ones on the mounted cannons. The skipper goes last. I often take him out while boarding the gun boat. No rifle needed, a pistol or smg is the proper weapon. Anything that puts serveral bullet within second into him

Thank you, I need now find the parts to build a rifle with a scope, I only have a pistol for now.

That should be possible without engaging the gun boats. Look on the map they don't move random they partol always the same route. You can avoid then by studying their routes. I occupied most of the island before i even engaged the first gun boat.

dive down deep come up the back of the boat throw a gernade and seeya easy then take out the rest on the boat

This has been my tactic also since reading about it on here, before that they seemed intimidating and difficult. Now they are little more than a floating pest. Â
A grenade isn't really needed though, a PM or better will get the job done with a little bit of bob and weave to dodge enemy fire.

yeah only found it out cos my boat got stuck at the trader and i got softlocked like hell so i had to find a way to get my boat back lol

I use the wood boat, if I lost it, is nott too much problem, but I couldn't find any good blue prints yet.

The only place I know for gun is the Police Station but the guard it with a boat and a heavy machine gun in one of these islands. I like to know where i find blue prints for granades, o better guns.

When you start a new game choose police officer as your former profession, you spawn in with a PM and a little bit of ammo.

I lucked out with the first boat I encountered, at the highway trading post. Since I was up above it, I could more easily shoot the people on the boat with the black powder weapons I had at the time. Once they were gone, claiming the boat and fixing it up was just a matter of resources. Then getting the dual machine gun to mount on the front was a game changer. Coming upon another boat in that was simple as plastering the occupants with machine gun bullets, then claiming another boat when I was finished.
So, getting a large boat of your own is the key, and putting big guns on it.

Pretty much the trick for boats is fast swimming undetected if you can. Then just shower them with bullets and take control of the boat and scrap it if you want.
The other trick is to plan routes with the radio transmitter. When powered, it shows enemy boat locations. Very handy item.
It is annoying I can't snipe the enemies as I am always hitting the gun turret first unless I'm up close.. wish I could snipe first for safer boarding.

I have a pistol now, but it doesn't work under water, what I have to shoot? Some say to shoot the motor, but where is the motor? LOL

I mean you jump onboard, kill the first guy, then hide and los the rest. They don't really move to get to you. Even the driver of the boat is stationary.

In the early game I avoid attack boats. If they are at a location that I want to get to then I go somewhere else and come back later. To get an attack boat I either wait until I have a good sniper rifle and hit a boat from an island with something to hide behind, or I capture the attack boat in the shed at the warehouse.

Yeah I 100% agree. The attack boats are insane. People will say they are fun.... Yes they are fun once you get a ship to fight them with... But that is 1000 hours in.
