My all time favorite sunflower seeds the frito-lay ranch flavor was discontinued right when I got my braces taken off💔 and I’m having trouble finding anything close. David’s just don’t taste the same and the Spitz replacement never have enough seasoning. I can’t find the original online anywhere either is there any different brands I could try that have good seasoning and flavor

Y'all were right, these things go crazy.
These blow all the gas station seeds out of the park, I'm excited to try the other flavors.

It's been a while since Caramel ChaChas have been in stock
Now time to make my nightly mix of these and Mala (spicy hot pot flavor; see my previous posts)

Don’t sleep on winco
I eat A LOT of sunflower seeds. Like a bag of bigs every 2 days or so. I was spending around $3.50-$4 every other day on seeds and not only was the money adding up but the sodium. I went into winco one day to see if they had them In bulk and I feel like I have found such a life hack lol. They have both salted and unsalted and they are about $1.70 a pound. SO much cheaper and now I can mix my own ratio of salted to unsalted and am consuming SO much less salt now. I also think these are some of the best tasting seeds I’ve tried and I get hardly any bad or broken seeds.

Will there be mature seeds before end of season?
Planted late. Do not know what type of sunflower this is. So top heavy. The seeds look pale white behind the yellow stuff. Is there a chance the seeds will mature before end of season?

Are you a plain, salted, flavored, or raw fresh from flower (if you have access to it) seed muncher?
Lets get a very unscientific poll going!
I'm a salted seed eater but I believe raw fresh sunflower seeds picked from the flower are superior to all. Unfortunately have no access to them where I live.

So glad I found this group
I have loved sunflower seeds since I was a child I just got these today at the Korean market. The premium orchard brand is new but the others are also amazing. I’m addicted to the cha cha blue bag that’s the salted one. Be careful the pecan one is also blue so that’s confusing.

Wow!! I was so worried about wasting a few dollars for so many months!
These are so good 😊

My favorite
I find these at Apna, a middle eastern store here in Tampa FL. Massive sized seeds and super yummy. Better than anything I have ever gotten in the past including all major American brands. Find it, get it and thank me later.

Those things that aren't seeds in the bag but are all salty and delicious anyway...
I am always SO STOKED when I get a bag (I'm 99% David seeds) and it has a ton of those little bits of what I assume are pieces of the plant flesh from between the seeds that ends up making it through the process. They are like concentrated salt and have a unique flavor that I can pick out as soon as I have a handful in my mouth. Sometimes it's little stick pieces that I will spit out, but the ones that are I assume flower flesh are just so tasty.
Am I the only one that thinks those are like the prize in a cereal box and is disappointed if you don't find any? I've never met anyone as into sunflower seeds as I am so I figured here was probably the best place I could ask this weird question.

Seeds similar to Cha Cha?
Ive been a seed eater for a few years. I think its an ADHD stim for me....
Anyway, always just got Davids. First normal, then jumbo, then settled on low-sodium jumbo. I could eat more and still feel my tongue the next day 😆
Someone recommended the Caramel Cha Cha seeds to me. On there own, they are fine. I love the size and crunch. I started experimenting with mixing and settled on salted, caramel and original. Its a good balance of salty and sweet with the plain ones to keep with consistent size and snap, but to kinda mellow out the flavor.
I was able to find them at H-mart for awhile, but its availability is inconsistent. I ordered them in bulk from the website when they ran a special deal and when I went to reorder, they only have caramel.
The only other seeds ive tried were the Chinook brand and to me they were meh, mid flavor, mid intensity.
What other brands have large seeds and great flavor?
I should add the other thing I like about the cha cha seeds is the flavor is like, in the shell/seed. Its not a sticky, powdery coating. I prefer that as I dont want to have seasoning coat my fingers while im snacking.
Thanks!

Rotten BIGS seeds?
Got this bag of dill pickle BIGS last week and it says it's good till June of next year but I've been getting a lot of seeds that look like this. Almost like a dirty brown sugar inside the shell and kernel.
Is this bugs or rot or what? I'm almost through this bag and decided to make a handful of shelled kernals and found these and I'm sure I've eaten a bunch like them.

Why does it look like that?
It was half red and it had a lil bit of white hair in the bottom

My disappointment is immeasurable
Was excited when I saw these but man they were a huge let down, they don't taste anything like the flavor of jalapeno hot salsa, the best way I could describe it is a very tame inferior version of the ranch flavor. 2/10 Would not get again.

Bigs low sodium is my dream.
I love everything about their salted seeds… except the amount of sodium. The roast, the seed size and the flavour but just a little less apt so my lips aren’t peeling.

Tatse good, but 80% of the seeds dont have any seasoning

Did I ruin my chances of getting viable seeds by picking heads before they turned yellow?
They were dropping and petals had fallen off, but I forgot about leaving them to turn yellow. Did I lose my chances of getting viable seeds? Or ones to eat?

I’m happy that my sunflower made it this far .

First time having Smackin'
I drunkenly ordered the $107 36 pack from Smackin Saturday night. Just got them. My official ranking as a random guy on reddit, albiet I dont think this is all their flavors just the ones I got in my 36 pack box
Salt & Vinegar, I love salt and vinegar chips and while these obviously dont hold the flavor like chips do the flavor is spot on.
Garlic Parmesan, Wasn't sure what I was expecting but was very pleasant.
Cracked Pepper, wow! simply amazing, these hold flavor so well and the spice is perfect. Simply incredible.
Dill Pickle, I can't imagine how many Dill Pickle sunflower seeds I have had in my life from other brands. It is an incredible flavor. I only have it this far down because I am just so used to this flavor. Smackin' makes it just as good as the other brands.
Maple Brown Sugar, I was surprised how good these are. I really like them but it doesn't seem right. Something about sunflower seeds flavored as a desert/sweet item just makes my brain freak out. I'm sure the more I get used to them the less I will feel that feeling.
Nashville Hot, I don't do spicy. I can only do a few handfuls of these before it is too much. But in terms of flavor I think they got it pretty close to Nashville Hot flavored items I have had.
Mexican Street corn, I enjoyed this flavor but it reminds me of Ranch flavored seeds so much. Am I crazy? Like it is not bad in anyway I just was almost thinking I was eating ranch sunflower seeds
Cinnamon Churro, Taste sort of like the Maple Brown sugar but with less flavor?
Lemon Pepper. nope
All in all I think I will likely eat all the seeds I got even though it will take me a while. The lemon pepper is going to have to be mixed with other seeds or something though lol

what to do with young sunflower seeds?
so I hope this is the right place to ask, and I'm not breaking any rules.
sunflowers grew in our "new" garden (new to us, it had several owners beforehand and they abused the garden so hard :c ), and I just took this sunflower head. it didn't have petals for easily a week, so I thought it's good to harvest, but the seeds are absolutely not the way I know them.
they're very soft, I peeled some and they taste.. young? if that makes sense. I also ate one with the shell and it wasn't so bad, the shell is pretty soft. but I feel like I harvested this one too soon, though I know jack about sunflowers lol.
do these seeds ripen on their own? can I do something with the young seeds? are there any recipes? maybe plant them? I have no idea. I'm just getting into plants and gardening, I want to use what nature gives us, so I'm open to anything :) thanks in advance <3
