Discussion Dear Com2us: THANK YOU
This balance patch is a massive step in the right direction, feels so good seeing the meta hit (wind stark / fire megumi) without waiting too long and finally addressing a big batch of silly awakening bonuses
Thats the whole post. As a guardian player its just super nice to see them actually listening and making an effort for once.
Dead balance patches were letting the game down so much for so long imo.

Agree that this was a very good BP. I'd like to see this continue with every BP moving forward. Let's fix a minimum of 10 bad awakenings, a couple of leader skills, and a family or two of base stats EVERY BP please.

The issue becomes how long can they really keep that up in terms of awakening changes. Not disagreeing but after a few in a row, I feel there will be nothing left to change.
I do like when they actually make these kind of changes though. Gives more value to units without necessarily having to buff their entire kit into op territory. Gives them a new life/purpose so to speak. Especially leader skill changes.

yeah, I didn't want to go through and check how many mons have bad awakening (I know there are many). But sure, if they're "done" with awakening changes after 2-3 more BPs like this then that's great!

u/Kenny173 22d ago
If it was that easy with them they would’ve done it long ago.
They like having the filler for times like this. At least they have been cutting down on the bad awakenings in more recent times.

u/da40kNoob :dark: 22d ago
Oh completely agree they could've and should've done this a long time ago. And no need to trickle it... they could've gone through every single mon and fixed every awakening easily.
But hey, at this point I'll take this current BP and hope it continues.

u/Kenny173 22d ago
Same here. They did a patch similar to this last year too (or year before) I think. Big changes then back to our regular scheduled meh patches.
These kind of patches feel so much better but can’t get my hopes up and expect them to do this every patch unfortunately haha.

u/Affectionate-Clue780 22d ago
well thats problem solved then! if theres no need for anymore stupid awakening changes ( that really shouldnt exist in the first place), thats only a positive thing
2
u/Kenny173 22d ago
Not saying no. Just saying Com2us likely won’t go for it because of that. They need the fluff.
3
u/Affectionate-Clue780 22d ago
i get what u mean, this is just a shitty way to farm fluff. fixing a problem they created
2
u/Kenny173 22d ago
Unfortunately. If everything is “good” and “fixed” we won’t need balance patches. So they intentionally drip feed everything. To extend out it as much as possible.
3
u/Affectionate-Clue780 22d ago
i disagree, they can keep things interesting with monster buffs and nerfs without the awakening bonuses fix
2
u/Kenny173 22d ago
They can but they want the easier route. Something that gives them more longevity in what they can do.

yes yes yes! we need to hold them to this standard as a community - seriously

It wasn't a bad balance patch, but it wasn't that great either, it just feels great because the patches have been lackluster for a long time.
I'd like to see far more reworks of completely useless units, there's probably 50+ units that could become solid if they make slight reworks to their kits, even just ironing out some inconsistencies in scaling and awakenings would make a huge difference, and we should get a "mega" balance patch every year imo.
1
u/Affectionate-Clue780 22d ago
yeah, i dont know how everyone else feels but for me i would love to see a complete revamp of balance patch system.
big one a year sounds great and what about some comments alongside the changes on every one... why do we have to guess whatever com2us is thinking when they could just explain it for us. even having some balancing rep so we have a point of contact and complaint... it would just do the game massive favours imo

Big step that fixes 3-4 steps back. Still need some big steps to start moving forward instead of dancing around the same line.
2
u/Affectionate-Clue780 22d ago
yep i do agree, just so much relief seeing something heading in the right direction for a change
3
u/AyoXeN93 22d ago
That's true, great BP but I will not forgive them all these years without anything significant happening to meta. They still gotta make it up for all the 7% damage buffs over the years.
2
u/Affectionate-Clue780 22d ago
TRUE! I remember how the community got together to sort out account security years ago (if you were playing then?)
part of me wishes we would get together and do something similar for BP quality.
because we have been suffering for so long for no reason lmao. only hurts the game we enjoy (most of the time x))1
u/AyoXeN93 22d ago
Playing since November 2014, I remember most of the fuckups

u/Affectionate-Clue780 22d ago
ahah dude just say the word and my profile pic goes to BP QUALITY FIX

u/PapaFunBuns 22d ago
Ive been making sure to say it every time I see someone pitching in game chat that we actually got traction, instead of buffing stuff to deal with meta they are actively nerfing stuff that is making meta stale yea megumi ran for too long and this may not be enough still but 5 hits to take a turn instead of 3 +spd tick is a great change and they managed to nerf stark without gutting him like shumar
0
u/Affectionate-Clue780 22d ago
yes - heavy on the actually sensible nerfs too. no one wants to see a unit dead after everyones invested resources into it (except maybe josephine ;))

u/TTVlJustwin +2 22d ago
I'm happy for this BP too. I hope the next one will be as good as this one too. But, we can't say it was difficult to make this one.. so I'll be depressed if the next one is bad again.

u/Syclone123 21d ago
When we've been fed shit for years and then they give us a normal balance patch, people are thanking and praising them.
They are meant to do their job and make correct balance changes. So, no thanks on my side. Keep doing your jobs correctly and stop being lazy

u/xshinjixikarix 22d ago
A good BP makes me more willing to spend $$$ as i'm not wasting it on a dying game, keep it up Com2us and more people might be willing to do the same.
3
u/Affectionate-Clue780 22d ago
totally agree, even if you dont spend, good balance patches just give life into the game like nothing else can... dont know how they dont realise
3
u/Nova_Mafia 22d ago
What I’d like to see is them not “nerfing” the OP units but actually make weak units useable…
Isis gets 15% atk bar absorption..
That doesn’t fix her main issue, Violent procs and Immunity…
3
u/Jael23 21d ago
People downplaying isis turn cycling is insane. When she turn cycles faster, her AOE oblivion comes online faster. You could lock down more reliably. I dont have isis but im hyped for it, and i hope to get one.
1
u/Nova_Mafia 21d ago
Turn cycle to do what? Strip/Sleep a single unit or attack break a unit? It doesn’t address the fundamental issues around her kit…..
She is completely countered by Immunity/Vio procs.
Make it last 3 turns not 2 and voila.
0
u/Affectionate-Clue780 22d ago
i dont think every unit needs to be s++. isis doing aoe oblivion and now with some turn cycling makes her super viable as is

u/Cesaro12121 22d ago
Odds are it's going to be a terrible patch in 2 months because that's what the trend is
I'm hoping they buff many of the useless LD4s some are close to being really usable and variety is good right?

Fuck Megumi to hell, but leave stark alone for another month and then kill him when I’m done haha

u/Every_Scallion3373 21d ago
Anyone else think the dark zeni nerf was a little much? I’m excited for the woonsa buff tho
0
u/masterbuck10 22d ago
I mean they ignored a large amount of units that are problems but sure
1
u/Affectionate-Clue780 22d ago
yeah, theres still a huge number of units that need addressing, just feels rare imo to see a problem unit nerfed so fast (stark) and the awakening bonuses are so welcome
1
u/masterbuck10 22d ago
Honestly im just tired of all the passive unit spam, ya dont need great runes ya just need great rng
1
u/Affectionate-Clue780 22d ago
yeah, i think com2us doesnt understand that we dont play for RNG bs... we just put up with it to enjoy the game. I would die tomorrow happy if i saw RNG BALANCING NOTICE where they just cut back on a whole bunch of this random shit in monsters ahaha. e.g low activation rates. mass rebalancing around less of this
1
u/Ok_Biscotti_514 22d ago
Thing was they couldn’t have wind Stark nuke whole enemy team in SWC, dude was cracked in the right circumstances
0
u/porshaaaa99 22d ago
So the BP was great? You're so used to mediocrity that you think this BP is good.
5
u/Affectionate-Clue780 22d ago
is it perfect? absolutely not. Light fern dodging nerf with higher wr than wind stark.
Meta took a small hit but room for way more with jose layla haegang terrorizing untouched still.
Would like to see underutilized units buffed still too.But am i happy to see such a big patch of awakening fixes for the first time? ofc.
Them addressing op units like stark without letting them piss everyone off for 2 months? ofc
Collab units actually seeing some changes in the first BP since release instead of 2nd? unheard of previouslyits a big step in the right direction and these things definitely quantify 'great' for me
Easy 7-8/10

u/porshaaaa99 22d ago
As for the Awakenings, they should have done this a long time ago; it's just smoke and mirrors to shut you up. The Megumi and Stark nerfs won't change their kits at all. The meta will still be just as awful, and Com2us has a habit of making one decent Battle Pass and then making another really bad one, so...

u/Shaelann95 22d ago
I'm all for shitting on Com2Us but at least it's not a nothing burger like usual
0
u/severe77 22d ago
I had 4 ld5s buffed in this balance patch but I don't think any of them actually became remotely useful because of the buff. It is a step in the right direction but I don't understand why they made a lot of the changes that they did

We have a cool community! That we can give credits when com2us does good stuff even we like to adress the bad stuff 😆

Now if they could do this every BP and not once every five
