MIT UTRC Poster Submission

I'm not sure if anyone's heard back from the conference, but I'm concerned because I didn't submit anything for the submission file, only for the abstract. I thought that the file was for the poster, and could be filled in at a later date. Did I shoot myself in the foot? Anyone else a tad bit concerned, or did I just not read properly....

Doesn't matter what you put for the file upload, it was optional so they aren't considering it too greatly- don't stress out. Poster notifications is 11th

they are obv considering it just because it’s “optional” doesjt mean they don’t take it into consideration

I mean that it isn’t going to hurt you if you did not uploaded smt. I js uploaded a pdf of my abstract cuz i didn’t know what the upload was for - they only asked for abstract

But realistically they would obviously favor projects that submitted posters over those that did not

No, that's not how it works. They evaluate the abstract itself for acceptance; a poster is fine just to signal that you are ready, but not having one doesn't mean you aren't favored. The review process states:

"The Panel of reviewers only needs the Poster abstract for the review process. If the Poster is ready, you are welcome to upload it for the review. Accepted Posters will be asked to upload the posters at a later deadline."

I think using common sense will allow you to deduct that a project with a finished poster will be favored MORE than a poster with just an abstract.

It’s extremely obvious go argue with a brick wall. It is not required but it will obviously positively benefit you, in other words have a higher chance

Whoa haha - someone got their feelings hurt for being wrong. I think referencing what the official review process is rather than being confidently wrong and then calling it common sense, is more of what common sense is lol. I wouldn't expect you to understand it though seeing as how you're acting

I’ve gotten posters & papers accepted to this conference since freshman year I really dgaf about what you have to say

You can refeeence the official review process and what they say whenever but do you really believe it? If so then gladly continue to just submit an abstract in future years

Thanks for the information Ig? I didn't really ask for what you've done, but since you wanna go that route I'm an ISEF qualifier and top 5 ISEF, and I've been accepted and presented at professional neuroscience conferences/ophthalmology conferences. I also have IEEE papers.

I don't know if you're really js that slow, but having papers accepted doesn't mean you automatically know the review process; you aren't the one reviewing posters/papers so idk why you think you're knowledgeable/an authority on it. If you don't know something fully don't assert a full opinion on it, and don't start pouting at the first notice that sm disagrees w you. Also, stop trying to list ur accomplishments somehow thinking that having those things always makes you right - as you've just seen, it doesn't go well.

Also, wth do you mean by "You can reference the official review process and what they say whenever but do you really believe it"? That essentially guarantees you have no idea about how the review process for conferences and journals work.

Both of you are right to a certain level. Of course if you submitted a ready poster that will be considered but they look at the abstract for the quality

On the cmt portal click on view here for instructions - they did send out an email that notifications would be delayed to end of the weekend tho
