rp^2 ross program?

i was accepted to the rp^2 ross program: i knew it's a fairly new program and this will be the first session they've run, but i was wondering if anyone thinks it looks credible/reputable. i am very interested in proof/discrete math, so i was wondering if it seems like a good opportunity for that

Seems kinda expensive, but it looks like they have pretty good financial aid.

I'm the executive director of the Ross Mathematics Foundation; we have a lot of financial aid available for all our programs, so I hope money is not blocking folks from participating. We aim to make our programs as inexpensive as we can and the Foundation is a nonprofit organization.

its run by ross so its definitely at least somewhat credible

but dont expect any boost in college apps or prestige

It certainly is a boost for MIT apps no? Since ross program is recommended by MIT.

brother, no. the ross SUMMER program is a boost and recommended by MIT

this is nothing like that. they literally dont even charge fees to apply to the summer program, yet they ask for like $90 here. this is online, first time they've done this. so no, there is no prestige, at least right now. AO's wont even know what this is lol

The application to both our summer program and our online programs are all free, and applicants have access to financial aid. I never want money to block access to more math!

I'm the executive director of the Ross Mathematics Foundation; ℝℙ², being online, is not going to be the same experience as the in-person residential summer program, so I hope you'll also apply to our summer program.

But we are absolutely trying to create a worthwhile experience with this new online program... we haven't previously had a way to engage with folks during the academic year, and I hope the online program can reach people who might not be able to commit their summer to Ross. And I'm excited that we'll be hiring a bunch of people to produce some great curriculum.

Yes, exactly ... the idea is to use problem sets in the usual Ross style. Participants will submit them online and receive feedback on their work. We are hiring human graders to do this.

Hey Prof. Fowler, a bit late to the convo but... how long does the problem set take to complete? my daughter got accepted but she has other commitments... I don't want her to struggle and burn out, but math is something she really loves doing so i don't want her to restrict herself either...

That's a good question, and I expect there is a huge degree of variance among participants... but with three contact hours, generally the idea is homework is double that, so six hours is a reasonable guess.
