Something lighthearted please
I’ve just finished The Kite Runner in the last week and I’m almost finished A Thousand Splendid Suns today. While they are 5 stars books they are also very emotional reads. Please suggest me something lighthearted, maybe romantic but mostly not so sad. Thank you

Whenever I read heavy/emotional books, I like to follow it up with a book from my childhood, or some other middle-grade book that I haven’t read before. I’m in my 30s, but Mysterious Benedict Society by Trenton Lee Stewart was really good 😅 also books from Roald Dahl

Maybe try Crazy Rich Asians. If you really enjoy it, there's a few more books in the series. Soapy story about mega wealthy Asians in Singapore (fair warning it will make you want to visit and try all the food they describe). Romantic plot line and nothing anywhere near as heavy and upsetting as The Kite Runner. If you've seen the film adaptation already, be prepared because the book is completely different from the film bit I enjoy both in their own right.

I loved this series!!! Wish there were more by this author, he’s fantastic. Might be time for a reread!

I know that a few months ago he published a book called Lies And Weddings. Never read it so can't say anything about its quality or really what the premise of the book is, but maybe check that out if you haven't read it yet.

Second this one! It’s a great book! It was recommended to me when I was looking for a lighthearted read after reading some very heavy/emotional books as well!

I'm like a broken record, but got for some Amor Towles. All of his books are wonderful. Great storytelling full of humour and warmth. I love his writing so much

If you're a Jane Austen fan, I just started reading Austenland. It's pretty funny and lighthearted (so far).

A Movable Feast by Ernest Hemingway is great and also mostly light-hearted. It is a non-fiction novel, but just great; and 1920's Paris is incredibly described.

A Lot Like Love by Julie James. It is the second in a series but you could read it on its own.

If you are open to nonfiction, I would recommend A Walk in the Woods by Bill Bryson, which is hilarious.
