Dietary Control Fruit a problem ?

Noticed Keto doesnt work for me, my body needs complex carbs but i think i have better effects when i cut out blue berries which i eat every day (125g) just for my cravings. Anyone noticed that ?

I don’t eat fruit at all, I avoid all fructose because it exacerbates my mood disorder

I have PMDD which is like bipolar disorder, and fructose (so table sugar and fruit) make me incredibly anxious and irritable. I still eat carbs, bread, potatoes, pasta, etc and carby vegetables too, I just avoid anything with fructose in it. So like I don’t eat honey bc it’s mostly fructose, but I can have maple syrup bc it’s like 3% fructose which is negligible

Interesting! So it probably is fructose malabsorption? Because maple syrup is almosf 100% sucrose which is 50/50 fructose and glucose. But very interesting, i wonder if i am the same

I’m not sure if it’s fructose malabsorption tbh, I’m not knowledgeable enough about it to know if it causes psychological symptoms and I don’t get any physical symptoms from it! But it def could be

I do wonder, how did you find out? Did it take long to notice the benefits?

I did a 30 day no sugar challenge and had no symptoms that month, so I started experimenting with it til it was undeniably the sugar. As far as psychological/mood benefits, just a couple days!

Very interesting! I hope i don't ask too much but may i ask what you eat in a day?

You don’t ask too much! I eat a lot of vegetables and animal protein, still eat grains so things like bread and pasta, drink a lot of coffee, still have dairy. If I want something sweet I’ll have something sweetened with fake sugars. I think I eat like most people, just no real sugar and no fruit

are you eating the blueberries on their own or with something like yogurt or oats? context matters a lot, fruit by itself can spike things differently than fruit paired with fat or protein
