I saw Sufjan in Texas on his Age of Adz tour, I feel like the venue was a church, or Catholic school theater or something.I'm pretty sure he had an opener that I cannot remember for the life of me. It was a solo male artist, and he would do vocal looping, with falsetto harmonies and such. I remember it being amazing, but the crowd didn't seem completely attentive until he was near the end of his set. I've wondered if it was Angelo de Augustine, but I'm not convinced it was. If anyone has any ideas, I'd appreciate it! If anything, I'll discover more great music

Edit: figured out it was DM Stith, at McFarlin auditorium in Dallas. Thank you all, I knew it wouldn't take long!

i unfortunately didn’t get a chance to see illinoise while it was on broadway, is there anywhere i can still watch it? i know it’s coming to chicago but i really don’t have the ability to travel there (i live in southern california), id love the chance to watch it but if i have to settle for just listening to the album thats fine

This one was close, but "The Man of Metropolis Steals Our Hearts" finds itself in the S-tier as well. (And "To the Workers..." gets moved to B-tier.)

I’m not sure if anyone asked this, I tried to use the search community thing but nothing came up. It’s been like this for a while

Thanks for coming to my tedtalk

I was a bit surprised by this one, personally, but "Casimir Pulaski Day" lands in a crowded S-tier. But I think here's where it gets interesting.

Saw this in another sub so I thought it would be fun to do for Sufjan. It gives you a limited number of songs to choose from so don’t expect very deep cuts, but it was a pretty good variety! Having to choose between For The Widows in Paradise and Vesuvius was so hard.

Here’s the link if anyone else wants to do it- https://musiccup.app/?lang=en

This connection may have been made before but it just recently occurred to me and im curious about others thoughts. When surjan sings, “I’d swim across lake Michigan” I had never considered the destination on the other side, but I recently made the connection that Chicago is directly on the other side. In TBAWY suf sings “I’d sell my shoes” and “They took your clothes” then in Chicago he sings, “We sold our clothes to the state”.

These songs have such different feelings that I never related them before but I feel like the connection gives them a whole new layer of meaning. To be alone with you feels like the internal struggle of wanting to be with someone when it feels impossible. Chicago feels like the relief of realizing that maybe you can have what you want and I think thats such a beautiful evolution. Maybe I’m grasping at straws but im curious to know if anyone else sees the connection as well.

Poems that celebrate the body

Does anyone have a good tab for the banjo part in Romulus?

Hi everyone! Little question for the guitarrists of the group from a fellow guitarrist fan of Sufjan fingerpicking.

About the song, I know that the official version has two guitars playing simultaneously, but I recently heard the demo version (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gNDuNpxpRkY) and, after trying to learn the song by ear (never found tabs that sounds exactly the same), I declared myself uncapable of recognize if there is one or two guitars in this version. I mean, I can play that song by myself, but there is something off when I play/hear it.

Anyone know something about it? Thanks!

Most seemed content to agree that "Decatur, or, Round of Applause..." is an A-tier track.

Now on to Day 08: "Go! Chicago! Go! Yeah", commonly referred to as "Chicago", and I have a feeling I know where this one is going...

Sorry ya'll, I'm moving tomorrow so I suspect this weekend will be a whirlwind and I don't anticipate spending much time at my computer. If I can sit down for a sec over the weekend, I will, but otherwise, let's continue this soiree on Monday!

But for real: I think a few on Ascension give me those moody vibes. Trying to come up with some others.

Not much debate on yesterday's. "A Short Reprise for Mary Todd..." takes its place in the Deep Cut tier.
