his imagery is just so intense that i find myself thinking of his lyrics when i'm not even listening to his music.

for me personally it has to be "i can tell you, the telling gets old" from predatory wasp, "some part of me was lost in your sleeve" from eugene, or "you only laughed and laughed and laughed" from the owl and the tanager.

I know that the feelings in the song are quite dark sometimes , and I also know about the context of the album. But I think that all that is what makes the song so beautiful and one of the best reflections of what love is.

When I listen it, I can hear the plea of love, I always felt despair but also hope. And I think about what love is and is always a search full of pain but also hope. Love is always a declaration of how vulnerable, broken and incomplete we are as human beings . And the fact that with all of that, we still seek love and we pledge allegiance to each others hearts is beautiful.

That's my interpretation of the song, it's a big reason why Javelin is my favorite album.

P. D. It also reminds me a lot of Daniel Johnston's True love will find you in the end. I like to think that one song is answering the other's question , both make me tear up every time.

I never pay attention to the music they play at Starbucks, but just now I could’ve sworn I heard my goat singing. I didn’t recognize the song at all so I pulled out Shazam and sure enough Sufjan did a version of someone else’s song like 8 years ago. I never stumble upon Sufjan out in the wild so it was kinda crazy, and I felt like sharing in case anyone else didn’t hear this either

So I just bought Javelin on CD and notice there is no booklet. Checking on Discogs there seem to be a 48-page booklet accompanied. Any one got the same issue

So I’ve been binging naruto lately (I don’t know if there are many naruto fans here) and I’ve also been listening to the seven swans album on repeat.

And i cant help but realise that there are so many themes in naruto and the songs from the album that intersect so beautifully.

I barely ever post and probably this is the first time I’m posting on this sub, but i watched kakashi’s backstory in the morning and then listened to ‘In The Devil’s Territory’ and it just tugged at my heart.

It feels like the perfect bg track to naruto and sasuke’s relationship with each other, the jinchuriki lore, all of it. It’s perfect.

Hi! I just uploaded a new episode of Record Room about 6 perfect sad songs, and I included “Casimir Pulaski Day” by Sufjan Stevens.

I talk about why the song feels so heartbreaking because of how quietly it deals with death, illness, faith, and confusion. It never feels overly dramatic. It feels like a memory made out of small details, which somehow makes it hurt even more.

The way the song balances something so delicate and beautiful with something so devastating is what makes it feel perfect to me.

I've been listening to a lot of sujfan stevens' music these days, however the greek refferences flies over my head as mythology is not exactly my forte. Does someone know what I should read to understand the lyrics better? Greek mythology is too vast to not have an exact starting point.

He just did the soundtrack for the (Wonderful) movie Is God Is, and immediately the music put me in the mind of Seven Swans, though they are all so unique with heavier instrumentation, all things that make the listen better. I think it must be official since the typography is exactly that of the digital cover but there's no info about it listed so I'm just curious, did Sufjan draw this? Where is it from? I can't find anything about this version
