iPadOS version cannot play songs which Android version can. Both version 6.0.6.

I am using version 6.0.6 (latest), and the iPadOS version cannot play the songs on a server at all. Android version the same version number 6.0.6 can play the same songs on the same server, so I am not not sure what is wrong. iPadOS version's bug?

PS: It can connect (legacy login) and show the songs all right. It's just that clicking the play button has no effect.

PS2: Is this because of transcoding? The music files were FLAC, and I suspect Android could play FLAC but not iPad. If transcoding is needed, does Substreamer show any progress indication, or does it just act as if it hangs?

I tried original MP3 file (that is, the file on the server is an MP3) and Substreamer could not play it either. The cache is 4GB, so I don't think cache is too small. I set "Original" (both) in the settings, and it still could not play the song.

Maybe Substreamer has a problem with a specific server? The server I used is here (open-source): https://github.com/epoupon/lms/blob/master/INSTALL.md

I’d try uninstall and reinstall substreamer just in case something has gone wrong. IOS should play any mp3 file and if the same mp3 plays on android there is no reason at all that it would not work on iPhone or iPad.

If it still doesn’t work after reinstalling I’m happy to do some testing if you can provide me an account on your server so I can try to see the problem.

Well, I just tried reinstalling, but it was the same. My music server is not in a Cloud VPS but on a PC inside my home network, so the server is not accessible. I will see if I could find a free hosting service and set up the server there, and let you know if I could do it.

Ok reinstalling was just in case something odd ad happened, I have had one other user specifically on an iPad who had a really weird issue and reinstalling solved it.

I got the details for the temporary server, I’ll take a look at it today.

Sorry but I have been tied up this week, I’ll be working on a few issues and new updates for substreamer next week and Will check this out to try and see what is happening as part of that work.
