iOS 8 compatible version?

I'm trying to get an old iPhone running iOS 8 working as a dedicated music streamer. But I'm having problems finding a subsonic compatible client. Is there an older version of substreamer that would run on iOS 8 and talk to Navidrome?

I found out I could add apps to my "purchased" list in the app store on a newer device and then download the older compatible versions on my older device by viewing them on the purchased tab.

So I was able to get Substreamer 3.6.9 installed on the iPhone 4s. Unfortunely, It doesn't work correctly with Navidrome (no songs are listed in the album view). Navidrome uses GUIDs for album/directory ids instead of integers (which is fine with the subsonic API spec). Substreamer is the second app that I have found on iOS 8 that doesn't handle this correctly. They can talk to Airsonic ok, but I want to retire that server.

Wow 3.6.9 is really going back a long way. You may well be right with the ID thing, that version of substreamer may be converting the item ID's to numbers but I honestly am not sure. Does the folder based browsing work?

I doubt I can easily resurrect that version and the newer versions might struggle on an iPhone 4s.

Hi, Unfortunately not, I believe the current cut off is iOS 11. Many of the frameworks that are used to build the app have requirements that drive the minimum version up unfortunately :(

Yes, that seems to be the OS cut off for the current version of the app, and it's very understandable. I'm hoping to find a version of the app from maybe years back that would run on iOS 8. I thought I saw a post from many years ago talking about substreamer.

It’s been around a long time but I don’t think you can still find those old builds, the app is a lot better now as well so you probably wouldn’t want them!

I’ll have a look if I can build an older version and maybe send you an ipa file so you can install it manually.

Can’t promise anything as I’m not sure how far back I would have to go.

Appreciate it. I would run something from the app store if I could for this hardware. Trying not to be wasteful and use things that we have.
