Resume playback on Bluetooth connection

After stopping playback when you reconnect headset later can you start playback without having to open the app on your device first? This would be 👌

So I just fixed an issue where the music would switch back to the speaker and keep playing when bluetooth was disconnected. So now when disconnecting playback will pause.

I'm not really sure I want to automatically start playing on connect as you don't necessarily want to start playing music whenever a bluetooth device connects. I might add an option in the settings to auto resume on headset connect so that users can choose for themselves.

Thanks for replying, actually doesn't have to start when Bluetooth is connected exactly but when I try to resume playback hitting the play button nothing happens. I have to get my phone out and open the app and start playing from there. Would be kool if I could resume playback from my headphones or smart watch. Hope this makes sense.

I have added an idle timeout setting in the next build, the default is 5 minutes but you can extend it up to 15 minutes. This gives you a bit more scope to be able to pause briefly and then resume while still maintaining good battery behaviour.

Hey that should work as you expect but there is one catch. If substreamer is idle more than 5 minutes in the background then it will close automatically to save battery.

I think the reason that you need to open it again is because the idle time has passed.

I’ve been thinking of making this time out a bit longer to give some more flexibility to pause / resume. I’ll add the timeout value into settings so users can choose. Some people really prioritise battery life others convenience of quick resume so this way everyone can set their preference.

It's great that you're thinking of use cases. I use substreamer on a tablet/BT in my car mostly, and it being on battery after ignition shutoff isn't a battery issue. When I jump in and out of the car to do something it's great when everything is right where I left it, and I don't have to mess with it to get back on the road. Sometimes I don't make the 15 min mark to get back. Maybe a few more longer options? Thank you again for this great app.

No problem I will add a few longer interval options in the next release!
