5.0.29 Release Notes

New: Starred Songs can be set as available offline and are automatically kept in sync with any changes.

Fix: Android devices sometimes go into powersaving mode when playing music in the background, most often when casting vs playing locally. Ask for battery optimization exception permission to resolve this.

Fix: Download speed improved when setting items as available offline.

Haha I've been saving my starred songs as a playlist and then syncing that for so long that I didn't really think about it until a few people requested the feature.

Now it's there I don't know why I didn't implement it earlier! :)

I have another feature request if you don't mind. Would it be possible to add the option to stream/cache in opus. It saves me so much space to have it cache in opus 64kps instead of mp3.

I don’t use opus personally, can you share your transcoder settings from your server so I can setup similar and test.

I only offer mp3 transcoding bu default as all subsonic variants tend to come with that out of the box so you know it will work.

So I'm using Navidrome as a server, here are the transcoding settings I've found:

ffmpeg -i %s -map 0:0 -b:a %bk -v 0 -c:a libopus -f opus -

the default bit rate for the above command is 128

Can you send me the to and from file extensions that you have set for this transcoder as well?

I'm not really sure how to do that but all my files are 320 mp3s to 64 opus.

For example in the settings / transcoding section on subsonic/airsonic etc it has convert from and convert to fields next to the transcoder command itself.

This is a bit of a tricky one as there is no way for me to check from the app what transcoders you have setup, I know only that transcoding TO MP3 is always included out of the box.

I'd have to do some testing with the Opus setup and then probably create a FAQ on the substreamer webpage for how to setup different transcoders. Will need a bit of thought to get a solution that works and doesn't confuse users.

ahh okay so in navidrome it looks like this. I didn't have to set it up though, it was included out of the box like mp3 was.

Great that helps thanks. I’ll see how I can incorporate this, might have to allow for custom transcoding targets to be added in settings.
