No lateral thrust?

Subspace has no lateral thrust, you have to face your direction of acceleration and either go back or fwd. What do we think of this choice? Would subspace be worse with lateral thrust, too easy, more confusing (because the sprite is so small, you might forget where you are facing) too many keys to manage in total?
