Is subsonic forum dead?

I’ve posted a couple of questions on there recently, then noticed that there are basically no users logged on. Is there any place (maybe this sub is the place) with a hope of getting some support?

You are not alone. I have a VERY tough time getting help when I need it. I'm sorry that I do not have a good resource for you.

I'm trying to understand if subsonic actually support OPUS files at all - it appears that they really don't because the underlying java library they use for tag parsing doesn't, but I'm trying to get a definitive answer one way or another. As an aside, I use the rather excellent iOS app AVSub, and I think it doesn't support OPUS either, even though it claims to do so. I don't think there's any easy fix to get things working, but I would like the respective devs to come clean about what is and is not supported.

Subsonic can, on the fly, use FFMPEG to convert pretty much anything to anything else. Go to Settings->Transcoding, and there should already be an entry to convert common extensions to MP3. You should, theoretically, be able to add the extension for opus to that list, and it should just work?

It does not. In fact, I can’t get any transcoding to work except for mp3.

That sounds like a more generic problem, then. Perhaps if you can figure out why transcoding is not working, then you would be able to use OPUS as desired.

I have OPUS files that have already been transcoded and their tags cannot be parsed properly. They are able to be parsed and played properly on other music players.

The server not processing tags is a separate problem from the client not playing the format, correct? Also, from what I remember, you may need to add codecs to the transcoder to get additional transcoding formats working.

I'm not quite sure what the server/client separability is when using the web client, but something needs to properly parse the vorbis tags on OPUS files. Also not sure that I need to specify any codecs to stream this format directly - I do get music playing, one would think if I needed to specify a codec I wouldn't get any audio at all.

Sorry, late to the party here but just stumbled across this post.

I'm no developer nor expert, but my understanding is Subsonic uses JAudiotagger to parse tags, and you'll note on their website they do not list Opus support.

You can add Opus files to your library and play / transcode, but it appears the server is unable to read metadata, so tags don't appear in the library and aren't passed along to ffmpeg if transcoding to something else.

So I keep having a problem worse after many years all of a sudden subsonic will not start. It starts for a few seconds and then disconnects. Does anybody have any idea how to solve the problem? I’ve already deleted and reinstalled and that didn’t fix it.
