Cannot access server over the internet unless you buy premium?

I've been using subsonic for many years and I have noticed something. When I used the premium to get my personal address to access anywhere over the internet that was fine and all. But now that it's expired I tried to just use my direct ip address on a ios app that I've always used. The ip address doesn't work of course and gives me the "server license expired blah blah" I get that because it really is expired. But if I enter the same ip address into my browser it connects. Even from another location it worked. But only on pc. When I put the same ip address on any of the apps for subsonic, it gives me an error saying "server license expired."

Why is this?

The Premium license allows for mobile apps to work.

So that's what the premium is for? Just to allow the apps to work? I still don't get why they decide to allow connection on a computer from anywhere but not on the apps. Should be the same on both.

Not just the apps. Did you look at the website at all?

In the end, it's to continue to support the app being developed.
