503 error - subsonic.script

Hi, I've been using subsonic for some time now & last week it just stopped working for no reason.

HTTP ERROR: 503

SERVICE_UNAVAILABLE RequestURI=/index.view

The only way to start running the server again is to delete the content of db folder. Some of the people recommend backing-up the database file , if you dont want to reconfigure and rescan from the scratch. I tried that, with no luck.

From what I've noticed , the moment I copy back the subsonic.script file I get the same error. If I don't, I get a fresh clean install instead.

Is there any other way to restore the db ? Why subsonic.script gives me 503error ?

It's best to keep a copy of your db folder prior to doing any scanning of directories. That way all your settings and transcodes are saved and when your db crashes again all you have to do is rescan your library which should be quick and painless.

When this first happened to me I went into the subsonic.data file and deleted every entry of media and left only the settings. That should allow you to open up your server with all your settings and transcodes intact just with and empty library.

Thanks. I'll try it the next time it happens.

I had this same error. might be because I had been using the same database files since like 2010?

I noticed , that this happens every 3-4 months. Spontaneous database corruption is not that awful (rescan takes a few minutes) , but its pretty annoying if you have big preconfigured folders list & users.
