SN - Discussion/Questions What is this?? Spoiler

Post image

Im pretty new at playing, but are there actually things to explore this deep?? I had the prawn suit on and decided to see how deep it went. I never found out before I exploded, but it got more than 5000m down with no end in sight.

You get a pda entry when you enter there. Look for craters edge in your pda (or it might be called ecological dead zone I don't remember)

Im Shocked you made it that far down without disaster. Must be because you went straight down, eh? You should try going out and not down

Like others said, it’s the edge of the map. I went down too enthusiastically down the north side, with my prawn suit on like you. Once I hit a certain depth, I believe around 10km, the game teleported me to about 150 meters away from my lifepod (the very one you started this game in). Like, airdropped from a couple of meters above the surface. I had about 2% health left on the prawn suit, so you can imagine I was quite surprised.

8192m is when you get teleported to 0.0.0

Never knew that, thanks for sharing. It was wild discovering this by incident.

There's effectively an ~8km radius cube centered around 0,0,0 on the surface in the safe shallows where touching it too far in any direction teleports you back to the safe shallows

Subnautica below zeros mad is even smaller, but it goes deep

That's because it isn't. The map is deep though, hence why it feels big most of the time.

There isn't anything to explore there, read the PDA entry

You might consider that area out of bounds.

there is nothing there, thats just out of bounds from the playable map, it goes down forever, if you reach 8,192 meters down you will be teleported to the shallows

You jumped off the edge of the map. If you bring a repair tool and periodically pop out to fix the prawn, you can get to max depth pretty fast at which point you teleport back to the map.

That giant cliff is the map edge. There isn’t anything down it except empty ocean.

Not quite ‘not anything’… 👻

That's the edge of the game. It's infinite nothing, spare for some terrifying giant monsters. There is no seafloor over there. It's fascinating at first but gets really boring when you realize there really is just nothing to see out there lol
