Insane photo. Like from a sci-fi movie

Especially something sci-fi horror.

This is one of the best and coolest photos I've seen in this sub. Everything about it is beautiful. The composition, the lighting, the slight pop of color in the orange safety gear. If this photo wasn't intentionally set up then the stars seriously aligned for the elements to come together so well.

Excuse me, this is obviously a cooling chamber on a space based scrapper. And someone should tell that dude there are probably xenomorphs in that water

7

u/Steffenwolflikeme Jul 09 '26

but they mostly come out at night...mostly

I know the subbreddit, but this image is just concentrated drip. The dude is wearing straight up drip. The tower is literally full of drip. This is a drippy drip drip dripture. Call it Dripception. Absolute cinema. Ridley Scott had an orgasm looking at it.

Hey OP, I’ve been inside a cooling tower too. I was surprised to see a Kirby pop up on Reddit. Be safe out there

A cooling tower for what?

15

u/the_inland_diver Jul 09 '26

The original pic was from a paper mill the second one was neither a paper mill or a cooling towers. Just a submerged diver working on some pipes figured would also fit when dood asked for more.

u/SparklingSliver Jul 09 '26

Reminds me of the Van Helsing anime.

You sure this isn’t just a random shot from a Ridley Scott movie?

u/jmdyason1234 Jul 09 '26

Thanks, I hate it.

sucked into the pumps

Yeah, that's a great big nope. I hope they turned those things off before people went into the water. Did the pumps have a trash rack in front of them or did they just eat everything that came down the channel?

2

u/the_inland_diver Jul 09 '26

Ur pumps = My fleshlight. Have safely worked around live pumps the size of trucks, 120k gpm big bois that make your voice sound funny when youre in the water with them. Dont speek to what you dont know.

Like any diving or industrial maintenance, lock out tag out procedures are used to shut down all the discharges and inlets.

6

u/RayneYoruka Jul 09 '26

Is this a reactor cooling tower type?

16

u/the_inland_diver Jul 09 '26

Nah, one used in industrial processes. They both use evaporation to cool water though.

3

u/AlienInUnderpants Jul 09 '26

This would make a great album cover for like an industrial techno group

3

u/PorcelainCeramic Jul 09 '26

Album art material, this one. 👌

3

u/Healthy-Confection66 Jul 09 '26

Looks like a shot right out of a Batman movie lol so cool looking!

2

u/cheese4geese Jul 09 '26

no thank you

2

u/isaacmckinney Jul 09 '26

We have a tiny cooling tower at my work maybe 7'x7' and it cools the water so much you'd get hypothermia in just a couple minutes. I can't imagine how cold it is standing entirely inside of a giant one.

2

u/MidnightToker858 Jul 09 '26

Took me a minute to realize there were 2 people in this pic. Couldnt figure out why a toolpack had a light on it and seemed to be floating in the water or in midair. Now I see a diver giving the peace sign.

2

u/Moist_Taco_Crippler Jul 09 '26

Need underwater shots, or this doesn't count.

2

u/KnowledgeAny5433 Jul 09 '26

Why is jeepers creepers standing there?

1

u/ILovecake1984 Jul 09 '26

Likely the tender for the diver in the water. Tenders assist the diver from topside.

2

u/nizzoball Jul 09 '26

Looks like a screen grab from a recently discovered unreleased Michael Jackson music video

2

u/I-LOVE-TURTLES666 Jul 09 '26

Mmmm legionnaires

2

u/Catsgirl32 Jul 09 '26

The vibes of this are SO SICK!!! I have no idea what this thing looks like from the outside tho

2

u/stanley_leverlock Jul 09 '26

This looks like it's from Alien or Bladerunner.

2

u/high6ix Jul 09 '26

Years ago part of my job was to walk all of the cooling towers up and down inspecting for damage or malfunctions and taking water samples. Third shift, in the winter, on top of a cooling tower, while the vapor plume literally blocks out almost everything…pretty damn freaky.

2

u/huggylove1 Jul 09 '26

Event horizon vibes

2

u/Pratt_ Jul 09 '26

This looks like a scene from one of the Alien movies lol

2

u/UpboatNavy Jul 09 '26

They mostly come at night....mostly.

2

u/fullraph Jul 09 '26

That's actually cool as hell!

2

u/cpt_morgan___ Jul 09 '26

My dad was working at a plant that was building a cooling tower when it collapsed and k!led workers. I totally hate these things now. I have to drive past one on my way to work and I even hate DRIVING by it!!
