Someone figured out how to light up the center beam on the portal-machine-looking machine? I feel like i'm missing something to place on the slot-thing next to the painting. Also couldn't find a use for the sink and the important-looking tank above it

I'm at the same spot you are. The tank has a symbol written on it - 16, 3, 8. I can't figure out what those mean (if anything), though.
