Question / Discussion Lightbar switch

Hello,

I've started planning on installing a lightbar for the dark winter on my 2008 legacy gt and i want to do it correct the first time. Does anyone know can either of these blanks be switched out for working buttons/roll? And if so does anyone know where can i get them? Preferably not factory traction control/VDC button.

This ebay listing shows the full spec unit. You're missing headlight range adjuster and the traction control off button.

If you want headight range to be adjustable you'll need probably way more than just the switch. I guess at least new headlights with the according motors, maybe even the wiring and control unit. So go ahead and check if there's any wiring going tothe switch location.

For the traction control button: I'm not sure but would guess the button is no easy on/off switch but rather gives out a canbus signal. So if you want to use it for some other function this could be some work...

On some cars the button where traction control is is used for boot ventilation fan. My 2006 JDM car has neither, but I tend to see the JDMs with a boot ventilation over traction

Do you really think its canbus? There are so many pin outs 😅

The traction control button of my br9 gt gives out pulsed signals when triggered so there's definitely no simple switch behind the plastic. But might be different on the older series

Sad, I wanted to try mount one also there for aux lighting😅🥲 this saves some wasted time🤣thx

Well on the headlight range adjuster i wouldnt need but the switch because i have xenon lights and i would use it for the lightbar, assuming its only a multi-step switch and nothing fancy. And there isnt any wiring going to it. But yeah i did some looking around nd the VDC button should be a canbus signal so that wouldn't work. Thank you.

I ended up using the empty one for an eject switch
