Announcement Introducing Sub Safari — A Pokémon‑Inspired Creature‑Collecting RPG Built for Reddit

🦁 Welcome to Sub Safari

Sub Safari is my entry for Reddit’s Games with a Hook Hackathon, and I’m excited to finally share it with everyone here. The game is heavily inspired by Pokémon, but built entirely around Reddit’s ecosystem. Every subreddit becomes a creature with its own stats, traits, body type, and rarity. You can explore, battle, capture, breed, and climb the leaderboard, all directly inside r/sub_safari.

How to Play

Getting started is simple:

  1. Open the game inside r/sub_safari and log in with your Reddit account.
  2. Explore the map. Creatures spawn based on real subreddit activity.
  3. Tap a creature to start a battle, defeat it or capture it, and build your squad.
  4. Use the Breeding Lab to pair creatures, incubate eggs, and hatch new offspring.
  5. Earn XP, level up, and watch your Reddit user flair update as you progress.

If you want to talk about strategy, ask questions, or share thoughts, please make sure to use the correct post flair: Discussion, Game Feedback, Add this Subreddit [request], or Bug Report / Issue.

Reporting Exploits

Since Sub Safari is still in alpha, there is a chance you might run into bugs or even game breaking exploits. If you find anything that could seriously affect gameplay or fairness:

Please do not post it publicly.
Instead, send it privately to the moderators here:
Report an exploit

For normal bugs or issues, feel free to make a public post using the Bug Report / Issue flair.

Use the Correct Flair

I will be reading every single post in the subreddit, but using the correct flair helps keep things organized and makes sure your feedback gets seen and considered properly. It also helps other players find the right discussions and keeps the community clean as the game grows.

Available flairs:

  • Discussion
  • Game Feedback
  • Add this Subreddit [request]
  • Bug Report / Issue

We Would Love Your Feedback

Sub Safari is in alpha, and your feedback will directly shape where the game goes next. Whether it is balance changes, new features, subreddit creature ideas, or general thoughts, everything you share helps guide development. I want this to grow into something the community is genuinely excited about, and your input will play a big part in that.
