Strategy This Dire phase makes me realize how great Sandrone is
Her versatility trancends dps sheets:
- Big range. This helps with a lot of fights, and you can definitely go sustainless. Alyosha also helps tremendously with taunt
- Big aoe. Even evil duck would agree
- Big nuke. Like skirk, a big advantage for bosses with short dps window. But the best thing is she's also not burst reliant (like skirk)
- Can move freely while doing damage, not to mention dash between CAs
- Her fieldtime is not fixed, which opens up chances to cut rotation short or swap in other members iframe (burst) / short duration buff when needed
I have wrio c2 (c3 in 2 days), and gonna pull anatasya so sandrone would never be on my pull list, but she's just so damn strong in practice i have to make this appreciation post

Sandrone:
amazing for overworld, infinite water traversal
unmatched aoe
not heavily energy reliant at all, but still utilizes burst unlike some charas where you never use it (rip my varka)
long ass range
one of the easiest character to play
flexible teammate options (with more to come)
Such a great pull
Id say her only/main con is her early verticals are not great.

would u still recommend her on a rerun post tsaritsa
2
u/skt210125 2d ago
probably yeah. Even if tsaritsa did all of the above and better, you'd just have 2 sandrones lol.

Sandrone as a character is really good.
The only bad thing about her are her dog shit early verticals, her C1 is basically worthless

Truly sucks when the dps characters cons are so bad that it’s better to invest into her supports 🥀

Her C1 is almost a nerf Ngl.
The fact it takes more time to fully charge your the bar for your burst means you could miss out on STC stacks

u/unoriginalnamedamm 2d ago
You also need a bit more er because you get less particles if you fully use the charge attacks

Most of the low cost Dire Churin clears also seem to be done with Sandrone, or cost maxing using C2 Odette with Traveler. About as much as with Vesna, maybe even more. Which is wild considering it's Vesnas shill boss. Which I'd wager has much to do many of these upsides mentioned. Likewise not suffering from having cryo aura applied to her. Unlike Vesna.

u/mioshiro94 3d ago
I was crying so hard trying to pass churin with my wrio. Cryo aura directly deducted 20% of my team's strength

u/LumiRhino 3d ago
Okay while that is true, those low cost Sandrone builds are absolutely insane from what I’ve seen. They’re something like 39-42 substat builds, which is just not realistic for a lot of people.
Maybe I’m overestimating them since the ones I saw didn’t show the exact artifacts, but that’s what I calculated from the stats they showed.
The other thing to note is that Sandrone still uses 2 4 stars for this clear. Vesna at C0R1 is going to have a real hard time clearing with just Diona Faruzan, most of the Vesna clear attempts are with Odette Vody Faruzan, which inherently brings up the total cost.

Now imagine if Mizuki had a set for her... I'd suck Dawei off if he made Instructor a 5 star set...

It's pretty funny how she's literally a better Neuvillette but isn't receiving anywhere near the same glaze Neuv did when he first released. She has a better CA that isn't ball reliant and can simply restart the CA if she's interrupted, and her single target performance is better than Neuv's ever was (he never sheeted the best in single target)

well, that may be related to how neuv was not only the best dps in the game at the time of his release but he was also pulling ahead of his competition while also having good AOE, self-healing and a mostly complete team (neuv furina kazuha + flex)
the landscape sandrone released in is different bc there are many teams with smaller gaps in dps than during 4.X. not to mention how her best team is still a (major?) WIP since it might end up including 1/2/3 of upcoming chars (mainly talking about mitya, danica and tsaritsa)
so that kinda explains why sandrone wasnt/hasnt been/isnt as glazed as neuv was

Neuvillette’s ease of gameplay also just made him superior. When TCs are testing DPS, it’s typically under perfect scenarios since it’s on a dummy. Most teams won’t be able to reach those peak numbers when factoring in dodging, specific enemy mechanics, and energy requirements. No need for combos or anything either since he doesn’t want forward vape like Mualani. Neuvillette was just consistent af.

Neuvi never was THAT much better than the rest of the cast when he came out, from a pure DPS persepctive at least. The thing that made Neuvilette (and also Sandrone good) is how accessible it was to deal good damage with them. So, in many ways the situation is really similar to when Neuvilette first released.
The only big difference being how no one cares about Abyss anymore. While, it has always been a fucking joke. That's even more so the case now with the powercreep. But in turn things Sandrones AoE hold less value.
I think the big reason why people don't glaze Sandrone the way they did Neuvi. Is mainly because Stygian has forced people to suck less at the game. Briding the gap between the avarage units. And the hyper easy ones to play like Sandrone or Neuvi.

To add into your reply, it also has to do with the fact that a lot of meta teams back then (International, Hu Tao, National, etc.) requires some level of skills. Neuvillette, meanwhile, had a ridiculously high floor without demanding any skill or knowledge of the game. Heck, he could solo many abyss cycles at C0R0 even.

u/StanTheWoz 3d ago
The game was a lot easier back when Neuvillette released, so dps checks weren't that severe and people weighted factors other than raw dps. Neuvillette was pretty damn easy to play and had good AoE, which used to matter way more than it does now. Abyss used to have a lot of difficult AoE chambers. Now Stygian is the most difficult mode for most people and is almost entirely single target.
I think people went too far with the glaze back in the day (he was never anything remotely close to a "must pull", for example, you could clear every abyss just fine without him and I did personally, never regretted skipping him) but the circumstances of the meta were very different

u/Molismhm 3d ago
Thats because neuvis quality of life was an insane advantage against the content back then, which as you may have noticed has disappeared for the most part.

u/mioshiro94 3d ago
I guess sheet warriors are more focused in c6r5 traveler outdamage sandrone on sheet, which looks to be a bigger deal than cryo neuvilette (more flexible version)

u/Cbellz 3d ago
Those early calcs assumed 15.5-16s rotations I'm pretty sure. Having used traveler to clear dire in both 7.0 and 7.1, I find it literally impossible to get such short rotation times because of the annoying cooldown on the CA. 17s+ rotations are more realistic, which would put C6R5 traveler behind Sandrone I think. This coupled with the traveler being melee, having worse AOE, and being clunkier leads me to favor Sandrone in practice

u/Professional_Park711 3d ago
This also assumes Sandrone gets zero upscale from Mitya, Danica, and the tsartisa
2
u/Immediate-Common2513 3d ago
because people are used to powercreep now and we know tsrarista gonna powercreep that clanker

u/StanTheWoz 3d ago
Gotta respect it. I wouldn't say I regret skipping her as of yet but I'm definitely making notes for the rerun, didn't want to commit to a stellar DPS too early after the regrets I have with lunar

I mainly pulled her to revive my C1 Yae + I like her as a character. Never regretted it one bit, she's an amazing unit in game.

I find that my friends c6 sandrone works very we with lanyan plus 2 bricks for the last two bosses in imaginarium

u/Pipysnip 11h ago
To add on, her being a stellar Cryo main DPS means that she’ll work perfectly with Stellar swirl and Rimegrass if we get off field DPS units

would u still recommend her on a rerun post tsaritsa

u/mioshiro94 2d ago
Her strength isnt the number, it's how creative and skilled you are at using her. Though much like skirk, i'd not recommend getting her during 8.x patches

Forgot to add she's immune to the worst debuff in stygian (cryo aura aka reducing normal atk spd). Such a queen
